4His Color

Every dragon in the world of A Song of Ice and Fire has a color associated with their personality. In the case of Caraxes, this color is red. This ties in well to his nickname of Blood Wyrm which was given to him by the Dragonkeepers.

Caraxes was known to be a fierce dragon ever since he was young and, while growing up, this ferocity of his got even greater. As such, the color red suits Caraxes perfectly. This also goes in line with the personality of his rider, Daemon Targaryen, who is known to be the Rogue Prince.

3His Size

In terms of size, Caraxes is known to be quite huge. While not the biggest dragon in the series, he is significantly bigger than an average dragon.Syrax, Rhaenyra’s dragon, didn’t match up to Caraxes in size.

Vhagar, however, is known to have been twice the size of Caraxes. Being the only living dragon from the time of Aegon the Conqueror, it is expected for the latter to have been much larger. Nonetheless, Caraxes' size is still impressive.

2His Fighting Prowess

In battle, Caraxes is known to have been one of the most formidable dragons. His experience was just as great as the Rogue Prince himself and his ferocity only made his enemies share him more.

Caraxes, despite being half the size of Vhagar, was able to lock horns with him on an equal footing. In fact, Caraxes proved to be strong enough to rip his throat out with his powerful jaw. That’s not to say that this was an easy fight for him as he did end up taking lethal injuries in this fight as well.

1His Death

Despite being strong as he was, Caraxes eventually died. In the fight against Vhagar atop the God’s Eye, he saw his belly get ripped open and his left arm get completely torn. However, he ripped Vhagar’s throat out with his jaw at the same time. Both dragons ended up falling into the God’s Eye and while Vhagar didn’t survive the fall, Caraxes did. The dragon managed to pull itself ashore despite having lost a limb and receiving grievous injuries. Caraxes ended up dying slowly outside the walls of Harrenhall.
