A new mod forHogwarts Legacyallows players to play as Newt Scamander, the protagonist of theFantastic Beastsfilm series. The player-character has already been the focus of a few interesting mods, with oneHogwarts Legacymod allowing gamers to play as Voldemortin-game.
TheHogwarts Legacymodding scene has gotten off to a great start, with plenty of positive signs for the future. While it seems that the available modding tools aren’t as robust as what’s available for other games likeSkyrim, mods will be able to grow in scale as the modding community gets more familiar with what is possible. Right now, a lot of the mods that exist are focused on the weird and wonderful, with oneHogwarts Legacymod allowing players to fly onStar Warsspeeder bikes. It’s exciting to follow the growth of any game’s modding scene, but the excitement of fans surroundingHogwarts Legacymakes it a particularly great prospect to see what will come next.

The mod was uploaded to Nexus Mods by user AreKCrisiS, with a variety of images that show Newt Scamander as part of the world ofHogwarts Legacy. The mod is complete with facial animations, and replaces the fourth male face and tenth male hair, so players will have to change to these to see Newt in-game. Unfortunately, it doesn’t change the protagonist’s voice, so gamers will have to offer a level of suspension of disbelief in order to use the mod. Newt Scamander definitely fits the era, however. WithHogwarts Legacytaking place in around 1890, andFantastic Beastsaround the 1920s, he looks right at home with the older visual aesthetic.
It’s not the first time that AreKCrisiS has created this type of mod. They also created amod that lets gamers play as Cedric Diggory inHogwarts Legacy, so it seems they’re a huge fan of the film series. While AreKCrisiS left no indication as to which character is coming up next, users in the mod’s comments were quick to ask for many different characters from the franchise, including Tom Riddle, Grindelwald, and Hermione Granger.
Hogwarts Legacycontinues to be one of the most popular games out there, almost two months after it was first released. It was only recently thatHogwarts Legacywas finally knocked off the top spot of sales charts, showing how much fans have craved a great Wizarding World title for years. Developer Avalanche Software is still yet to announce any DLC plans for the game, but with the enormous sales numbers, it won’t be a surprise if content is secretly in the works.
Hogwarts Legacyis available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, with PS4 and Xbox One versions launching May 5 and a Switch port releasing July 25.
