Summary

WB’s patented Nemesis System is supposedly being implemented into Monolith’sWonder Womangame and while seeing the feature return at all is a godsend, it would be doubly special if the Nemesis System eventually made its way to theHogwarts Legacyfranchise by the timeHogwarts Legacy 2rolls around. There’s already a lotHogwarts Legacycut or couldn’t add that would make the sequel fascinating, though the Nemesis System has a couple of immediately viable applications Avalanche could get an early jump on if the Nemesis System is going to be integrating itself back into the games sphere as a frequent feature, which it hopefully will due to how engaging it was in theMiddle-earthgames.

There’s no confirmation one way or the other for if there will be aHogwarts Legacy 2, much less if it would have a variation ofWarner Bros.’ Nemesis System, but aHogwarts Legacysequel is all but guaranteed by its sales as of late.

A Hogwarts Legacy Nemesis System Could Pit Houses Against Each Other

The Nemesis System inHogwarts Legacywould be most feasible and enriching within Hogwarts and between Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, and Ravenclaw with their own tapestries of developing characters. The biggest hurdle would be deciding how the Nemesis System would evolve; in theMiddle-earthgames, the Nemesis System represents an evolving hierarchy with enemies and assimilated allies either being promoted or demoted in rank, if not outright killed and wiped from the menu entirely.

This same structure wouldn’t naturally translate well toHogwarts Legacyunless it was redesigned a fair bit, such as representing which students were earning more house points in their particular house.Hogwarts Legacyalready earned flak for not adequately punishing playersfor choices made that were purposefully egregious, and killing other students to watch others be promoted or demoted in their respective houses is almost certainly not how Avalanche would go about the Nemesis System in a sequel.

Therefore, if the Nemesis System behaved more like a House Points System instead, it could illustrate which houses are earning more, even if a lot of that quantification is scripted with arbitrary scores for different NPC students. Of course, anyone not fully invested in a possible House Cup reward at the end of the year likely wouldn’t get anything out of the feature.

A Nemesis System for Quidditch Could Represent Each House’s Standing Throughout a Year

Another appropriate application of the Nemesis System could be restructured to portray standings throughout the school year as houses participate in Quidditch matches. Of course, this would rely onHogwarts Legacy 2actually featuring a playable Quidditch mini-game, which is already a colossal grey area.

It would make sense to have a Quidditch team depicted in the menu with students categorized for their position as either Seeker, Keeper, Beater, or Chaser. Then,if a student happened to be maimed in a Quidditch match inHogwarts Legacy 2, perhaps that would be reflected in its Nemesis System menu.

This would demand that each NPC opponent has a particular skill set or it might not have any meaningful impact, though, and thus Quidditch would need to be extraordinarily in-depth with each opponent on the pitch being a named character with strengths, weaknesses, and other listed stats. Players could then consider these opponents and select characters for their own house’s team accordingly depending on which house they’re up against, and a vital Keeper sitting out due to a prior injury would make for a wonderfully dynamic and immersive touch.
