Helldivers 2developers identified a troubling bug with the changes made to patrol spawn rates from a previous patch. TheHelldivers 2community was recently hit by a storm of negative press after developer Arrowhead Game Studios announced a controversial PlayStation Network account-linking update earlier this month. While the game has started to heal from the scandal, the effects onHelldivers 2’s development reportedly continue to linger.

The days followingthe PSN account-linking updatesaw a rapid change in the public perception ofHelldivers 2, with thousands of players flooding the title’s Steam page with negative reviews in protest of Sony’s decision to enforce the requirement months after the release of Arrowhead Game Studios' hit cooperative shooter. Though Sony eventually backtracked on the account-linking update, the controversy had already taken its toll onHelldivers 2, which remains delisted in 180 countries at the time of writing. Furthermore, players weren’t the only group disturbed by the controversy, as a message from the officialHelldivers 2Discord channel revealed development for the game was just as affected by the tumultuous days following the PSN update.

Community manager Twinbeard explained howHelldivers 2developers received multiple reports of a possible bug with enemy patrol rates, particularly forHelldivers 2’s solo playersand other teams with less than a full squad. Twinbeard admitted Arrowhead Game Studios was aware of a possible issue for quite some time, but couldn’t direct the resources and manpower required to identify the cause and implement fixes due to the team’s preoccupation with recent events. Thankfully, the community manager also claimed developers had confirmed a problem with the enemy patrols and decided to roll back changes to the spawn rates.

Helldivers 2 Developers Are Committed To Ensuring Stability

Twinbeard went on to assure fans that the team was committed to taking its time in making surethe latest patch forHelldivers 2is properly tested. While it might be a lengthy process, he stated that developers were devoted to reviewing their patches and further hoped players were satisfied with their response to the bug in question.

While the game is on track to recover, theHelldivers 2community is still reeling from its recent controversy, and it remains unclear when or if it will ever reach the same level of acclaim as it did in the weeks following its launch. With that said, Arrowhead Game Studios previously teased plenty of exciting new content for future updates, such asthe return of the Illuminate factionand new weapons and armor for its already extensive armory, soHelldivers 2will likely be sticking around for the foreseeable future.
