HBO Max’sHarley Quinnis one show that has unambiguously earned its ratings, which include viewership numbers, reviews, and the extremely relevant “mature audiences only” disclaimer. Now, with scarcely a fortnight remaining before its season 3 premiere, the bloody hilarious series has released one final trailer to set things up.
The new Red Band trailer follows upthe other recentHarley Quinnseason 3 teaserwith a little more detail regarding Harley and Ivy’s return to Gotham. After the villainous couple rode out into the sunset at the end ofHarley Quinnseason 2, it seems as though a lot has changed in DC’s arguably most dangerous city. However, rather than staying shocked at everything new, Ivy has a plan of her own to shake things up.

Right out of the gate, it’s extremely clear thatHarley Quinnwants everyone to remember just how raunchy and violent it is. With Harley and Poison Ivy messily hitting a bird while flying Wonder Woman’s invisible jet, the blood is outdone only by the humor. The cute and toasty banter betweenHarley Quinn and Poison Ivyhelps reinforce their long-built chaotic romance and should put at ease any fans who may have worried the show’s excellent writing and performances would suffer after its 2-year hiatus.
Rather than revealing more about this season’s premise, the Red Band trailer seems more focused on fleshing out the characters themselves, with everyone getting their expletive-filled time in the spotlight. This includes favorites like Harley and Ivy themselves, voiced once again byThe Big Bang Theory’s Kaley CuocoandWhat If…?star Lake Bell, respectively. Alan Tudyk also returns as Clayface and The Joker, the latter of whom appears to be running for mayor against Christopher Meloni’s Commissioner Jim Gordon.
There seems to be a lot of drama in store as well, which the show has never neglected in the past. Several characters comment on how much Harley has changed, including Ivy herself, telegraphing some potential trouble in paradise for the new power couple. However, the typical trend of Harley’s crew biting off more than they can chew appears to be in full force once again, with Ron Funches' King Shark commenting, “How is an Ivy plan even more of a disaster than a Harley plan?!”
It looks like fans ofHarley Quinnhave plenty more of the same very much un-family-friendly fun that made the show one of DC’s most beloved entries in recent years. Here’s hoping season 3 helps crank upHarley Quinn’s surprisingly modest popularityand inspires plenty more to come in the future.
Harley Quinnseason 3 premieres on July 28th, 2022, on HBO Max.
