In a recent interview,Halo InfiniteStudio Head Chris Lee confirmed that there are no current plans for a follow-up toHalo Infinite.
In an interview with IGN, Lee commented on the new title’s release, stating that “Halo Infiniteis the start of our platform for the future," in reference to the Series X. “We wantInfiniteto grow over time, versus going to those numbered titles and having all that segmentation that we had before. It’s really about creatingHalo Infiniteas the start of the next ten years forHaloand then building that as we go with our fans and community.” It’s important to note that Lee did not mean thatInfinitewill be a live service gamein the same vein asDestiny 2, but that it will be a title that will continue to grow with additional story experiences and updates for quite some time.

It’s respectable to see the Xbox brand take its time and focus on a single title in the long-running franchise, and not attempt to look ahead to future installments quite yet.
TheHaloseries has always tended to pace itself between installments for the most part, and has never gone theCall of Dutyroute of releasing new titles on a yearly basis. WithHaloas the Xbox platform’s biggest exclusive franchise, it’s understandable that Microsoft wants to move slower with its series, to keep fans always eager for more.
Though a sequel toInfiniteis currently no where to be seen, it’s also fair to not rule it out entirely. The franchise originally came to a close back whenHalo 3was released, ending the original trilogy, yet the franchise found a way to continue in its sequel and has since continued moving forward since then.
The franchise seems to have a sort of obsession with the number 7, with it being found in riddles, scripture, and lore within the universe, not to mention the seven rings ofHalo. With all of this obsession with the number 7, it would be an honest shame tonever see aHalo 7. It’s never too late to rule out a potential sequel.
Halo Infinitereleases this holiday season for Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PC, and Xbox Game Pass.
