However, fans have pointed out that the story of the game sometimes feels as though it’s missing something.
As CJ returns home after a long time away, the player relies on other characters to inform them of what Grove Street used to be like and what’s changed. With a whole new group of players beingintroduced toSan Andreasthrough theGTA Trilogy, even more people are now noticing that the events ofSan Andreasoften can feel unexplained or like they’re missing something. One team of modders is looking to now fix that problem.

An ambitious team ofSan Andreasfans, headed by one deltaCJ, have decided thatGTA San Andreascould do with a prequel game to flesh out the world of the game and the story behind it. According to the modding community,GTA Vice CityandGrand Theft Auto 3both received prequel off shoots of their titles shortly after release. SinceGTA San Andreasdid not receive the same treatment, modders have threatened to release their own version of aSan Andreasprequel since.
The mod is currently entitledGTA 1991, and follows the story of Little Devil. Little Devil is a character mentioned by Sweet as having died between 1987 and 1992. Despite that fact, which could even be changed, the story of Little Devil is largely unknown, and has given modders the chance to create an original story while linking it to the material seen inGTA San Andreas. Creating a prequel following a character that is doomed to die isn’t new forGTAcreators Rockstar who introduced players toArthur Morgan inRed Dead Redemption 2.
Promising new characters, weapons, and vehicles,GTA 1991is one of the most ambitiousGTAmods to be revealed. A demo containing the first chapter ofGTA 1991is set to launch later this month, but for those who can’t wait,GTA San Andreashas an active modding communitywith some of the most interesting mods in the series.
