Grand Theft Autointroduced multiple playable protagonists inGTA 5whereas previous installments restricted the player to only one. Throughout the game’s narrative, the player is allowed to switch between Michael, Franklin, and Trevor as they see fit, three fascinating individuals each with a unique ability
WithGrand Theft Auto 6in development, fans are curious as to how the game will operatein comparison to its predecessors. Though there are many benefits in reverting to a single protagonist in the upcoming installment, it may be wise to continue incorporating multiple playable characters for a multitude of reasons.

10Special Abilities
Grand Theft Auto 5saw the creation of special abilities unique to each of the three main characters. When activated, Franklin could slow time while driving, Michael could slow time while aiming, and Trevor could briefly negate damage from oncoming attacks.

It would be wise for developers at Rockstar to feature this concept inGrand Theft Auto 6as it challenged the game’s supposed limitations. The special ability feature allows the player to experiment with gameplay in ways thought impossible in previous titles. It also benefits the story to have these abilities divided among the three separate characters to maintain a sense of realism.
9Expansive Stories
The inclusion of multiple characters permits the player to experience a range of diverse stories.Michael, Franklin, and Trevorall had different motivations that served to expandGTA 5’s narrative, all the while enabling the game to explore the world from three different perspectives.
At the core ofGrand Theft Auto 5is a complex tale about three unlikely friends overcoming their differences to help each other prosper. Rockstar has now familiarized themselves with the process of writing a layered story like this, so if multiple characters were playable inGrand Theft Auto 6, their journeys could be even more interesting and engaging.

8Switching Characters To Escape Harm
Grand Theft Auto 5allowed players to swap between characters whenever they felt the need to, but certain missions and combat situations denied the player this option. There are several missions featured inGrand Theft Auto 5wherein one is required to switch between characters to perform a task only they can, but it can also be used to aid in dire situations.
Being under heavy fire while having the option to change to a different character in a safer location can offer the player an easy route out of harm’s way. It is an incredibly useful trick, so it would be a shame to see it absent inGrand Theft Auto 6.

7Fast Travel
Grand Theft Auto 5was the first game in the series to incorporate fast travel, but not in the way fans would expect. When the player decides to switch characters, they will be sent to an entirely different location. With Franklin and Michael both residing in the city, swapping to Trevor is a great method for traveling to the top of the map in a matter of seconds.

Exploring aGrand Theft Automap offers a great experience, but there are times when one would prefer to get to theirdesired destination quickly. Assuming theGrand Theft Auto 6map will be bigger, this feature would be a necessity.
6Unique Personalities
Franklin, Michael, and Trevor all have individual characteristics and personalities that benefit the story in a major way. To have the ability to change from one character to another in a matter of seconds allows players to gain access to a different dimension of the same story.
A narrative that focuses on a psychopath, a family man, and a gang member never grows stale, especially through the utilization of character swapping. Hopefully, Rockstar can come up with even more fascinating protagonists in its sequel.

5Different Scenarios
The Grass Roots mission is a fine example of a mission unique to each character inGrand Theft Auto 5. The player can find a man named Barry at Legion Square and, upon engaging with him, will be thrown into a nightmare-fueled hallucination wherein they must slaughter several groups of terrifying enemies.
For Michael, this mission sees himswarmed by aliensand, for Trevor, it sees him attacked by clowns. If it were not for the multiple protagonists present in this game, this mission would be impossible to execute.

4Player Customization
Grand Theft Auto 5is iconic for allowing the player tocustomize their charactersto ridiculous levels, particularly inGrand Theft Auto Online. For the most part, haircuts, clothing, and tattoos are all unique to each character, allowing for baffling styles to be given to them if the player wishes.
The option to customize one character is enjoyable, but the opportunity to redesign three is incredible. IfGrand Theft Auto 6features multiple protagonists, perhaps the level of customization could be further increased.

3Unique Houses
There is no denying the attention to detail required when designing a protagonist’s home. FromFranklin’s high-end apartmentto Trevor’s rusty mobile home, there is no shortage of interesting details about the characters hidden behind their doors.

Where a character lives can reveal a great deal about their state of mind, so ifGrand Theft Auto 6sought to include multiple protagonists, there may be a chance for the player to explore multiple homes to uncover the more subtle details about the characters they play as.
2Multiple Cars
Each character inGrand Theft Auto 5owns at leastone mode of transport. These vehicles can usually be found parked outside their houses, or they can spawn nearby depending on the circumstances of the plot. The best thing about these vehicles is they respawn upon destruction, a feature previous games lacked.
Owning multiple cars across different characters is certainly an improvement from previous titles as players, through character swapping, can now fast travel to their favorite motorcycle or car. It was a great feature inGrand Theft Auto 5, and the developers should incorporate it intoGrand Theft Auto 6.

1Heists
The most enjoyable part about the heists inGrand Theft Auto 5was the ability to switch between different characters to experience pivotal moments. An example of this is seen when the player scales a skyscraper as Michael before switching toFranklin to snipe at his enemiesfrom a nearby helicopter.
Heists were arguably one ofGrand Theft Auto 5’s best features because of this. If Rockstar is to include multiple protagonists in its sequel, it could serve to make heists feel like cinematic experiences once more.
