WhenGodfalladds matchmaking, it will address one of the main criticisms levied at the game in reviews. While manyGodfallreviewspraised the game’s punchy combat, there was plenty of criticism aimed at its lack of matchmaking.Godfall’s lack of matchmaking was exacerbated by the reality of PS5 console shortages, meaning many players simply can’t play with their friends even if they wanted to. And with no matchmaking, this has caused manyGodfallplayers to miss out on properly experience the game’s higher difficulty levels and endgame activities.
Godfall’s endgame activitiesshould become infinitely more accessible once matchmaking is added to the game. And because of this, it will be interesting to see if it causes any lapsed players to return. WithGodfallhaving launched all the way back in November and other major looter games having launched since then, it remains to be seen exactly how many players will still be around to take advantage of the new matchmaking features.
Besides adding new features like matchmaking, another way the developers could potentially boostGodfall’s player count is by bringing the game to more platforms.Godfall’s PS5 exclusivityis reportedly up starting July 05, 2025, so maybe the matchmaking update could coincide with the game’s launch on Xbox Series X. Alternatively, there is another way thatGodfallcould boost its player count.
IfGodfallwas a free PS Plus game, it would potentially see a huge spike in active players, who may come away more impressed with the game than those who played it at launch thanks to theimprovements made by the Primal Updateand the matchmaking feature. Whatever the case may be, there are a number of ways that Counterplay Games can bring more players back toGodfall, though time will tell if any of them will be effective.
Godfallis out now for PC and PS5.
