With a number of games seeing lengthy delays in accordance with the Coronavirus, many have turned their attention to Sucker Punch’sGhost of Tsushima.With the game slated to release in June later this year, the question on everyone’s minds is whether the long-awaited samurai action title will make its release date or whether it too will be pushed back while the outbreak continues. Luckily, it seems a new rating for the gamecorroborates reports that it’s targeting its release date later this yearas well as teasing some of the PlayStation 4 exclusive’s contents.
Rated for Australian audiences at a Mature MA15+, it seemsGhost of Tsushimawill be - as expected - aimed towards adult players. Alongside the rating, it seems a description of the game’s content has been released to contextualize the decision, with the description highlighting that the exciting new title will look to bring the 1st Mongol invasion of Japan to life as authentically as possible.

According to the Australian rating, the game will contain “strong themes and violence,” while it will also contain mild nudity. This matches up fairly well with the Mature 17+ ESRB for American audiences, which can be seen onGhost of Tsushima’sofficial website. According to that rating, the game will also contain “blood and gore,” as well as “intense violence,” and “partial nudity.” Evidently, the game is going to aim to be as authentic to the violence of the time period as possible, withthe game’s combat seemingly aiming to reflect the brutal nature of samurai duels.
The game receiving classification from both the Australian ratings board and the ESRB also seems to imply that it will still be hitting shelves in mid-June despite the less than ideal circumstances. With it easily beingone of the most highly-anticipated games coming to consoles this year, it’s great to see that players can still expect to jump into the title in merely a few months' time.
For those out of the loop onGhost of Tsushima,the samurai-based title is the first game to come from Sucker Punch since its release ofInfamous: Second Sonback in 2014. The game takes back in the 1200s during the first Mongol invasion of Japan and sees the player taking the mantel of one of the last surviving samurai warriors on the island of Tsushima. The title will supposedly feature intense combat, gorgeous visuals, and a storyline steeped in real-world history.
Ghost of Tsushimawill be available on June 26, exclusively for PlayStation 4.
