Shifting gears into the holiday season, even the newest Winterfest continues to feature such rewards.Daily presents and challengeshave a chance to award players with machines or other technology used in theStar Warsuniverse. Right now, players can purchase a glider modeled after a Y-Wingfighter jetused in the New Trilogy for 1,200 V-Bucks, allowing them to dive onto the map in typicalStar Warsfashion. This particular variant was used by Zorii Bliss, a former boss of one of the protagonists, Poe Dameron. But a key detail, or lack of one in this case, is the absence of an R2 unit, normally seen mounted near the center of the spacecraft. User toolbox007 on theFortnitesubreddit outlines exactly where the missing detail is located. For manyFortniteplayers, this won’t be a deal breaker but the lack of a droid or any machinery to fill the open hole may take some time to get used to.
However, players that paid attention during the film have been commenting that the in-game glider actually is an accurate representation. Various users including SomeBoricuaDude, Derza_B, and raidebaron have pointed out that Zorii’s Y-Wing also doesn’t have a droid when the jet appears in the movie. At this time, the different confirmations mean that theFortniteY-Wing model, dutifully crafted, remains faithful to the movie version.
In that regard, Epic Games has a dedicated team to not just implement items fromStar Wars, but make players feel like they are running around as those very same characters. On the other hand, the Y-Wing might just be an example where not implementing the detail of a droid head worked out, but that doesn’t seem to be the case with other items.
In the end,Fortniteplayers can grab otherStar Warscosmetics as well if the glider doesn’t suit their tastes. They can even put on a Zorii Bliss costume andengage in lightsaber battlesmuch like the films.
Fortniteis available now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and mobile devices.
