WhenFortnitefirst started, players who had one of the defaultFortniteskins equipped were mocked by some members of the community for not having one of the Battle Pass or paid skins. In fact, this led to bullying at schools, where the word “default” was used as a new schoolyard insult. However, it seemsFortnitefans are now nostalgic for the original default skins, and now it seems newer fans who missed their chance to get these skins will have a new chance to do so.
Besides Epic Games itself teasing the return of the OGFortnitedefault skins, dataminers have also leaked their existence. It seems that not only are theOGFortnitedefault skinsreturning to the popular battle royale, but they will also be coming with some new color choices. An exact release date for when these skins will be made available has not been announced at the time of this writing, but there is an upcoming event that seems like a good option.

FortniteChapter 2 Season 4 is expected to conclude on November 30, as part ofFortnite’s biggest event ever. It’s rumored that this event will see Galactus from Marvel Comics devouring the currentFortniteworld, which will then see it replaced with something else. One theory is that the new world will actually be the originalFortnitebattle royale map, hence the return of the original skins.
The OGFortnitedefault skins aren’t the only old-school items that are coming toFortnite. It’s been officially announced thatFortnitefans can get their hands on theOG pickaxeas well, which certainly seems to suggest that Epic Games is looking to pay tribute to the game’s roots. Whether or not this culminates in a full-blown return of the original map is hard to say, but it would certainly drum up interest amongFortnitefans.
Fortnitefans have a lot more to look forward to in the near future. It’s been confirmed that thenext-gen version ofFortnitewill launch alongside the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles, and it will be coming with some major enhancements. Whether or not these enhancements are enough to convince lapsedFortniteplayers to return to the game remains to be seen, but it will definitely be interesting to see how it all plays out in the weeks ahead.
