Epic Games reveals a new Ranked Play mode coming toFortnitevery soon, bringing new progression and rewards to earn. Part of sustaining the success that Fortnite has seen throughout the past few years is how often the experience evolves. While the core gameplay remains largely the same, Epic Games continues to infuse it with new content, map updates, and special limited time events. Combined together, these changes help keepFortnitefeeling fresh and pushing players to continue logging in day after day. Even though the current Season 3 inFortniteis still fairly new, with many players looking ahead to what’s coming next. While Epic continues to keep its long term plans under wraps, manyFortniteleakers have started to speculate that the current chapter could be coming to a closein the next few months. Both Battle Royale andZero Build will have a Ranked optionthat can be enabled while playing Solo, Duos, and Squads for Battle Royale, and Duos for Zero Build. The system allows players to progress through a new rank system that includes Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Elite, Champion, and Unreal. Its debut will also mark the start of Ranked Season Zero, running through to the end of Chapter 4, Season 3. Players simply need to partake in one Ranked match to have their starting level revealed.

With Ranked Mode turned on, soloFortniteplayers will match with those in a similar rank, while Duos and Squads will have a party rank equivalent to the highest-ranked teammate. Ranks will have a progress bar that can move up or down based on player performances including the number of eliminations in a match, with late game eliminations being weighed more than those at the start. Match placement overall also plays a role in meter progression or recession, as well as the ranks of those eliminated.

Those taking part in the new experience will also be able to earn unique seasonal rewards as well. Upon jumping off of the Battle Bus in a Ranked Match, players will receive a new Ranked Urgent Quest, which need to be completed during that session. Completing them during a match unlocks new seasonal cosmetic rewards, with the final one being a special Burn Bright Emote that shows off the player’s current rank color. Lastly, for those wondering, this news does also confirm the end of the road forFortnite’s Competitive Arena, which Epic Games is planning on discontinuing alongside Update 24.40.
