The firstTransformers: Rise of the Beaststrailer opens with a confrontation betweenRon Perlman’s Optimus Primaland Optimus Prime in the jungle. When Prime raises his cannon at Primal, who is in his ape form, the latter tells Prime that he is not the one to fear, warning of an impending darkness' arrival. Viewers are then treated to action shots featuring familiar favorites like Bumblebee and newcomers such as Anthony Ramos as the human protagonist, Noah. Afterward, Primal warns Prime that of all the threats he’s faced, past and future, the coming danger is unlike anything he’s dealt with before. Undaunted, Prime says, “let them come.”

Transformers 7is the second installment of the live-action film serieswithout Michael Bay as director. This time, Steven Caple Jr. will sit in the director’s chair, withCreed 2andThe Landbeing his only two feature film directing credits until now. Multiple writer’s names have been attached to the project, but Caple Jr. was reportedly brought on board to direct the screenplay by Joby Harold, whose previous writing credits includeKing Arthur: Legend of the Swordand Zack Snyder’sArmy of the Dead.

Bay’sTransformersfilms were not well receivedby critics, but they were successful at the box office. On the other hand, director Travis Knight’sBumblebeeprequel was more successful with critics but underperformed financially compared to its processors. Audiences clearly prefer a new direction for the franchise but may not necessarily show up at the theaters to support it, so it will be interesting to see how Caple Jr.’s entry in theTransformersfilm series fares with audiences and at the box office.

Transformers Rise of the Beastsis scheduled to be released in theaters on August 07, 2025.
