GameStop has revealed an exclusive bonus for fans who wish to pre-order the upcomingFire Emblem Engagethrough its storefront. The strategy RPG is only a little over a month away from its release, where players will embark on a new journey that includes not only a cast of new characters, but also several returning characters in the form ofEmblem Rings. This allows for pastFire Emblemprotagonists to be in a supporting role, with characters like Marth, Byleth, Lucina, and more to assist the new protagonist Alear, providing them the ability known as Engage.This focus on the franchise’s legacy was outlined inFire Emblem Engage’s announcement trailer, where the story notes that they summoned these past heroes from other worlds to help them defeat the threat of the Fell Dragon. It also includes an artistic diorama of several heroes across the franchise. This Tarot card deck will contain 12 cards, which depicts both the upright and upside down versions of their corresponding motifs assigned to certain heroes.Video games assigning Tarot motifsto their characters is always interesting, which can be seen with Tarot decks for games likePersona,Cyberpunk 2077, andSkyrimjust to name a few.
Of thelegacyFire Emblemcharactersthat can be currently seen in the image, it includes Marth, Leif, Byleth, and Ike. Players can even see what Marth looks like when his Tarot card is upside-down, where he is holding his head while it is nighttime and has a moon motif on it. The rest of the cards are likely to follow this same depiction and pattern. Considering that there will be 12 cards in total, fans should expect all main returning lords like Lyn, Corrin, and Micaiah to be included in this deck.
Some fans have raised concerns over this pre-order bonus being announced a month or so away from release, especially considering that there is alsoFire Emblem Engage’s Divine Edition, which contains a bunch of other physical goodies such as art cards, an artbook and a Steelbook for the game. Fans are questioning if Divine Edition pre-purchases through Gamestop will contain this Tarot Deck as well, though the company has yet to clarify.
