The story ofFire Emblem Engagespans over 26 chapters for the main story, and includes paralogues and other side quests accessible to the player. All of these chapters are laden with obstacles for the players to tackle. With that being said, the story has some antagonists sprinkled across that are extremely interesting, story-wise, as well as fun and challenging to defeat. But, some of these antagonists are more captivating than others.
7Hyacinth
Hyacinth is the late King of Elusia who died due to his involvement with the Fell Dragon Sombron and he was a driving character for a lot of the events happening early on throughout the continent of Elyos. He is the father of Princesses Ivy and Hortensia, two characters that divulge from the Fell Dragon’s side to fight alongside Alear and their group.
The class he appears in the game is the Martial Master, allowing him to make use of both arts and staff. Even after his death, he comes back to fight the player as a Corrupted.

6Alear From The Past
Alear is the main character of the gamethat’s controlled by the player. The game starts when Alear awakens from their 1000-year slumber with their memory lost. What Alear doesn’t remember is their past as a Fell Child of the Fell Dragon Sombron. They also don’t remember their involvement in the war that occurred 1000 years back, before being brought to the good side by Lumera, which made them a Fell Dragon and Divine Dragon hybrid.
In chapter 24, the game takes the player to the past and in there, the characters, including Alear, have to fight against a red-haired Alear. This is Alear from 1000 years ago who is still under the orders of Sombron.

5Sombron
Sombron is the main villain of theFire Emblem Engagegame and the most eminent threat to the continent of Elyos. Being a Fell Dragon, he is set on destruction and chaos. 1000 years before the events in Engage, he conquered Elyos before getting sealed away, thanks to the powers of the Emblems. Now out and revived again due to the Four Hounds, he is a huge threat and is to be stopped by Alear and their group of allies.
He is the most powerful enemy that the player will fight in this game, especially after he sucks the powers of the Emblems and becomes a Great Fell Dragon.

4Ivy
Ivy is the Crown Princess of the Kingdom of Knowledge, Elusia. The daughter of King Hyacinth and the older sister of Princess Hortensia, she cares about her kingdom very much and is a force to be reckoned with.

Alear and their group first fought her when she tried to seize the Kingdom of Brodia with her two retainers, Kagetsu and Zelkov, but ultimately failed. She fights Alear and the others once more after that, before ultimately joining them during chapter 11 after all their rings are stolen. After this point, Ivy goes from an antagonist to one of Alear’s most important allies.
3Griss
Griss is a sadistic man who is a part of a group that’s set on one goal: reviving the Fell Dragon Sombron and supporting his cause - a group known as the Four Hounds. Alongside the other members, Zephia, Mauvier, and Mavi, they pose a challenge to the player across many chapters. Griss, specifically, is the only one who sticks with Zephia to the end, while Mauvier and Mavi change sides.
He is a powerful mage and meets his demise in chapter 23, alongside Zephia, after fighting the player one last time.

2Zephia
Zephia is a Mage Dragon and the leader of the Four Hounds, a group of recurring enemies throughout the game, that are sure to cause the player some trouble. Zephia was serving the Fell Dragon Sombron for a very long time, even 1000 years ago, during the war. Being a dragon herself, she lives for very long. Zephia is the main reason the other Veyle, the evil one, exists. She used her magic to try and amplify Veyle’s powers and obedience to Sombron.
Veyle ends up breaking free from Zephia’s control. She and Griss are eventually defeated and they die during chapter 23.

1Veyle
Veyle, the Fell Princess, is not only a very memorable antagonist from the game, but also perhaps one of its best characters overall. As the daughter of Fell Dragon Sombron, she is the youngest of his children and the only one alive besides her sibling Alear. While Veyle is extremely kind-hearted, she has another side that is evil. This is due to Sombron and Zephia’s attempts to take control of her.
Even with their attempts to suppress her real personality, Veyle eventually breaks free and joins Alear and their group to fight against their father.
