Final Fantasyfans have a lot to look forward to, especially afterE3 2021 revealed that the first six games would be coming togetheronce again as a remaster. Players that have previously played any of these games can relive the experience, and those that have only recently gotten into the franchise now have a way of seeing where it all started. The official title of the collection isFinal Fantasy Pixel Remaster, and it will containFinal Fantasy 1throughFinal Fantasy 6.
It should be said that these will be very different experiences than the more modernFinal Fantasygames that players are used to now. Each of these adventures is entirely two dimensional, with pixels representing characters and locations rather than glorious 3D models. That said, these are classics in their own right, and players won’t want to miss out on them.Final Fantasy 6in particular is often hailed by some fans as the best that the franchise has ever put out. Now an entirely new generation of players will be able to make that call for themselves, playing through each game and deciding which is the best for them.

Starting off with theoriginalFinal Fantasy, players can see how the Warrior of Light’s struggle against Garland kicked off a genre-defining franchise. The collection will then take players through the experimentalFinal Fantasy 2, and the first game to include a job system,Final Fantasy 3.Final Fantasy 4introduced players to the ATB system (Active Time Battle), in which each character has a certain amount of real time before players can choose their next action, andFinal Fantasy 5,a game that greatly expanded the job system. Finally,Final Fantasy 6has always been a fan favorite for its immersive story and use of Magitek.
TheFinal Fantasy Pixel Remasteris “coming soon” to both mobile and PC. Unfortunately,no solid release date was given, but hopefully more information will come to light soon. There’s never been an easier way to replay these classic games, so fans are understandably excited. There’s also no word on whether or not this massive port will be coming to any consoles, but it seems likely for now that it will be restricted to mobile and PC.
