Iconic Moments from the Original Game
ThroughoutResident Evil’slong history, the series has since produced many gruesome deaths, but it is without a doubt that Brad Vicker’s end in the hands of Nemesis from the originalResident Evil 3is one of the most memorable ones. Unfortunately, Capcom decided not to include this iconic scene in the remake. AlthoughBrad still died, he was simply killed by zombies trying to save Jill’s life, instead of being decimated by the tyrant.
Another memorable moment from the original game is the scene when Nemesis shoots down Jill’s rescue helicopter, which resulted in its crash to the Clock Tower. While this particular scene still happened in the remake, the location of where it occurred was moved in the early part of the game on the rooftop of a parking lot. Lastly, one of the endings of the original game is Barry Burton returning to Raccoon City in the nick of time to save Jill and Carlos from being caught in the explosion meant to wipe out Raccoon City. In the remake,Barry’s appearance was cut out entirely, and Jill and Carlos were able to locate a helicopter that they used to escape the city seconds before the US government bombed it.

Puzzles
Puzzles were a staple throughout the classic-era ofResident Evilgames, but unfortunately, the latest remake barely had any. Although players will be required to solve a few puzzles, those that are in the game are not as challenging as the ones featured in the 1999 title. Who could ever forget the infamous water sample puzzle in the Dead Factory? Or the Clock Tower pictures puzzle?
Of course, it is no secret that Capcom wanted to makeResident Evil 3remake more realistic than its original counterpart, and it is understandable that the studio thinks that solving puzzles in the middle of a zombie apocalypse is not a likely thing to happen. But, as a bonus Easter egg, the clock puzzle that can be found in the gates of the City Hall in the original game, can now be found in the subway station in the remake. However, this puzzle is no longer required to progress in the game, but solving it will give players bonus items such as ammo, weapon parts, and extra inventory space.

Cut Locations
InResident Evil 3remake, Capcom streamlined the locations that Jill and Carlos were able to visit for the purposes of making the game more realistic. Thus, locations in the original game that served no purpose inJill’s escapewere removed in the remake such as the City Hall, The Press Office, The Raccoon City Park, The Graveyard, and The Dead Factory.
Technically, the St. Michael’s Clock Tower is still a location inResident Evil 3remake, but the only part of the area that players are able to visit is its front courtyard where a battle with Nemesis will occur. Additionally, The Dead Factory, which is Umbrella’s disposal facility has been cut in favor of a much more realistic underground laboratory called NEST-2. This lab is located just under the Spencer Memorial Hospital and is a much more realistic location for Umbrella to conduct its unauthorized bioweapons experimentation.

Cut Enemies
Apart from locations, several enemies were also cut inResident Evil 3remake. In the reimagined game, zombies, dogs, a monster that appears to be a combination of the Drain Deimos and Brain Sucker, Hunter Alpha, Hunter Gamma, Licker, and Nemesis are all present. Unfortunately for fans, the removal of the graveyard in the remake also meant that the famous Grave Digger has been cut from the game.
Initially, people thought that a photo of the Hunter Gamma with its mouth open is the Grave Digger, but sadly, the monster is nowhere to be found in the remake. Moreover, crows were also a no-show inResident Evil 3remake, but a new monster has been added to the game, which is a mutated form of a zombie that is created byNemesisthat bears a striking resemblance to the Cephalo inResident Evil 5.
Resident Evil 3is available now for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
