There’s just one more day untilDragon Ball Z: Kakarotreleases, the latest game from Bandai Namco that retells the epic story from the anime/manga. Just how much of the story is available to experience is a good thing to know for anyone planning on picking up the title. Here’s every saga the game will cover.
In the past, Dragon Ball Z games were mostly fighters, retelling the same story through a long string of fights.Dragon Ball Z: Kakarotis taking a much different approach,mixing in RPG elements, minigames, and myriad side adventures to expand on the beloved universe. As the title implies, players will be following Goku (Kakarot) on his epic journey, reexperiencing every major event from the story.

Story Sagas
Everyone has their favorite saga, and thankfully no one will be disappointed becauseDragon Ball Z: Kakarotis tackling them all. Beginning with the Saiyan Saga, which reintroduces Goku as a grown-up and Saiyan, the game will move on to the Frieza Saga, Cell Saga, and finally,the Buu Saga, which ended the series. Anything behind this point isDragon Ball Superterritory, which will not be included in the game. It will mostly stay within the realm of classicDragon Ball Zmaterial.
Not everything will be pulled straight from the anime/manga, though. Outside of the main story arcs, there will also be non-canonical features. Players will encounter characters from bothDragon Ball Zand the originalDragon Ball,and get involved in sidequests that did not appear in the main series. For example, Android 16 and Teen Gohan will get their own episodes within the game.
Many of the sidequests will serve to broaden the scope of the story and mix things up. One of the more comical and often forgotten episodes of the show where Goku and Piccolo attempt to get their driver’s licenses will be playable as a sidequest and mini-game. There is even an entirely new character designed by creator Akira Toriyama who is being introduced in the game. The new character,Bonyu, was part of the Ginyu Forceonce upon a time and will be part of a training feature.
