It has been a couple of years ever since BioWare teased the existence ofDragon Age 4atthe Game Awards 2018. Since then, the studio has been relatively quiet, which just confirms that the next installment in the popularDragon Agefranchise is still far away from release. Now, it appears that 2020 is proving to be a good year forDragon Agefans now that BioWare has at least provided two updates about the game.
Unfortunately, there is still no official gameplay trailer forDragon Age 4,and the short preview video that was shown at The Game Awards 2020 didn’t really show anything concrete about the game. The only things that fans can hold on to right now are images that BioWare has released so far, and for those who may have missed their official reveal, here are all the screenshots and pieces of concept art revealed forDragon Age 4.

EA Play
A year and a half after BioWare confirmedDragon Age 4at The Game Awards, the news cycle had been quiet with its development, apart from rumors suggesting thatDragon Age 4will contain a big multiplayer component. However, after the lackluster release ofAnthem, it is unlikely thatDragon Agewill be an online game, especially since the franchise has grown and flourished as a strictly single-player experience.
Now,the EA play revealdid not release a new trailer for the game, but it did with pieces of artwork that give players a glimpse of what to expect on the upcoming installment. The screenshots, as seen above, show a dark environment but eagle-eyed fans noticed the clumps of red crystals, which fans of the franchise would know as Red Lyrium. The substance first made its appearance inDragon Age 2and is the reason for the corruption of the Templars inDragon Age: Inquisition.Although the exact role of Red Lyrium inDragon Age 4is still a mystery, it is widely believed to play a big role in the upcoming installment.

Gamescom 2020
At the start of Gamescom 2020 several days ago, BioWare released tons of new concept art for the game, which revealed a lot more than those released at EA Play. The images show various locations in Thedas andsome characters that may or may not be companionsin the upcoming game. However, the art that revealed a lot about the upcoming game is the image is of Solas, who is one of the player’s companions inDragon Age: Inquisition. Players will observe that the new concept art appears to confirm one huge thing about Solas' role inDragon Age 4. InDragon Age: Inquisition, it has been confirmed that Solas is in fact the ancient elven god, the Dread Wolf who created the Veil between the physical realm and the Fade.
In theTrespasser DLC forDragon Age: Inquisition, players witnessed the Inquisitor losing their marked arm that wields the Anchor, and it is implied that Solas was the one who acquired that power after, though this wasn’t explicitly mentioned in the DLC. However, the new concept art appears to confirm just that, given that Solas is seen with glowing hands, implying that he has now acquired the power of the Anchor.

Moreover, the end ofDragon Age: Inquisitionsaw a transfer of power from Flemeth to Solas. To the uninitiated, Flemeth absorbed the soul of an old god from Morrigan’s child Kieran, if the ritual was performed inDragon Age: Origins. The concept art showed Solas has glowing eyes, which could mean that he was also able to take the power of the old god soul that Morrigan trapped within her child. Of course, this could mean that The Dread Wolf will most likely be a powerful force that players will have to deal with in the upcoming game. At the moment, it is still a point of debate whetherSolas will be a foe inDragon Age 4, but that remains to be seen until BioWare is willing to share more.
Dragon Age 4is in development.
