After years of build-up, gamers around the world have finally been able to experienceElden Ring. For many, it seems that the anticipation was worth it, especially for gamers who enjoy playing around in complex character creators. OneElden Ringfan took advantage of the newfound customization options to transform the Tarnished into Kratos from theGod of Warfranchise.
Kratos has one of the most recognizable designsin the video game industry. The series reboot 2018 changed up many other aspects ofGod of War, but Kratos remained easily identifiable even with his new look. It might be easy to understand why gamers, particularly fans of theGod of Wargames, might bring Kratos' distinctive appearance into other titles.

Redditor wildy8 shared a screenshot of their customizedElden Ringcharacter, which was clearly designed to look like Kratos. This isn’t the first timeElden Ringplayers have recreated existing charactersin the game’s character creator, but it may be one of the most accurate attempts. Although the game does not allow players to include all of Kratos' famous tattoos at the moment, it’s still very clear who wildy8 intends to playElden Ringdressed up as.
Wildy8’s recreation of Kratos appears to walk the linebetween Kratos' classic lookand his updated look. It combines the uncanny pallor from the classicGod of Wargames – a coating of ashes on top of his skin – with the beard and gaunter facial features from the reboot games.
Judging by the accompanying text,Elden Ringdoes not currently allow for more than one facial tattoo layer. Wildy8 chose to include the bright red stripe that runs vertically down the right side of Kratos' face. However, due to the character creator’s limitations, it looks more like a smear of red paint rather than a winding, snake-like stripe. Additionally, it’s also much shorter, clearly ending at what would be his hairline rather than curving over the top of his head.
As of writing, it appears that other fans are intrigued by the potential ofElden Ring’s character creator. However, this is not a unanimous opinion – one user replied to the post with a lengthy speech about how irritated they were with the greater emphasis on character creation. They preferred the sense of anonymity given by classic Soulslike titles where who the player is under their armor doesn’t matter. A second user noted that they had also made their Tarnished look like Kratos, however.
Elden Ringis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
