It seems thatDying Light 2: Stay Humanis in the midst of some sought after changes. Asone of the most anticipated open world zombie gamesof this generation, Techland is seemingly knuckling down to make improvements to what is considered a pretty good sequel that’s somewhat lacking in certain areas, especially the main story. Given that, many fans have been clamoring for some additional content to flesh out the world, and the developers have provided further details about the upcoming DLC.

In a recent interview with WCCFTech, Tymon Smektała, lead designer forDying Light 2, confirmed that the first major DLC the studio is currently working on will run alongside the game’s main story. They go on to say that it will be possible for players to start the new content “right after Aiden arrives in The City,” and the DLC will center around a particular area outside of Villedor’s limits. Not much else was said about this DLC’s story, but there have been numerous speculations.

Smektała says that of all the rumors they’ve seen about the new content, no one seems to be close with their guesses. Techland has hinted thatDying Light 2DLC will surprise people, with Smektała reiterating such sentiments. It remains to be seen what exactly the studio has in mind, but many who have been following the game’s progress will no doubt be keen to check it out. Currently, the new content is scheduled for release some time in June.

Dying Light 2also received a major update recently, which brought with it a New Game Plus mode and an additional quest. Smektała said that fans should expect even more surprises from the team. While Techland announced it’s currently started working on a new project, there’s still a lot of love left to give for this game. When asked, the designer said there were plans to possibly update the weapon system in the sequel, which should hopefully make things more interesting.

The game itself is already quite the success, despite its shortcomings upon launch. WithDying Light 2selling 5 million copiesduring its first month, it’s clear that this has been a popular successor to the original 2015 entry. While it received decent review scores across the board, there are evidently enough people enjoying the game, and the developer seems more than eager to keep implementing changes and new ideas.

Dying Light 2is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. A Switch version is in development.
