Summary

Blizzard is making big changes toDiablo 4’s character classes and also tweaking how damage is calculated in the game. This was revealed during therecentDiablo 4Campfire Chat, which also revealed more details about the upcoming Season 2, Season of Blood.

Diablo 4became one of Blizzard’s fastest-selling games at launch, and also received critical acclaim. However, its moment under the sun was short-lived as it faced severe backlash from the fansfollowing theDiablo 4Season 1 update. Much of the fanbase was disappointed with the changes Blizzard made and highlighted their concerns across all platforms. This prompted Blizzard to host an emergency Campfire Chat, where it addressed the community’s concerns and promised never to release such a patch again. Now, Blizzard has broken down some big changes it is introducing withDiablo 4Season 2.

The recent Campfire Chat revealed that Blizzard’s primary areas of focus for Season 2 were Elemental Resistance, Unique items, damage overhaul, and individual class improvements. For instance, Elemental Resistance will now hold more priority in a player’s build, in order for their survivability to improve. As for the Unique items inDiablo 4, Blizzard got some overwhelming feedback from the community, which said that these items didn’t feel rewarding enough. To change this, the developer has reworked most of the Uniques in the game, where many of them are also getting major stat boosts along with new perks as well. Along with this, several class improvements are also on their way, where several class-specific skills are being revamped, and the way damage stacks in the game is also being changed. While the damage calculation remains multiplicative in many cases, it will be changed to additive in some areas to give players a major stat boost.

WithDiablo 4Season of Blood, players will also get a vampire hunter companion named Erys, who will aid them in defeating hordes of the unknown Dark Master. Additionally, players will also have access to new vampiric powers that can be obtained using the Pact Armor. To make higher level activities more challenging, Blizzard is adding 5 new endgame bosses to the game who will have guaranteed Unique and Uber Unique drops. Furthermore,Diablo 4Season 2 will make it easier for players to reach level 100, as the experience gain after level 50 will make progression around 40% faster.

Despite the massive changes arriving with Season of Blood,Diablo 4’s popularity has been on a downward trajectoryas its Twitch viewership has dropped around 98% since its launch. Players had constantly complained about the lack of content in the game which Season 2 will aim to fix, and will hopefully act as a catalyst for the game’s revival.

Diablo 4is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
