Destiny 2developer, Bungie, once made the promise to make an actual toaster based on theDestiny 2weapon, Jotunn, which is comically referred to as a toaster by theDestinycommunity. Bungie set the goal of making a Jotunn toaster if theDestinyCommunity could hit the donation goal of $777,777.77 during itslivestream block supporting GCX 2020.
Outside of Senior Community Manager Dylan dressing up as bread, there’s likely no better way to commemorate the chase for bread than with aDestinyToaster themed after the Fusion Rifle, Jotunn. While Jotunn may not be an actual toaster, theDestinyToaster is now officially on sale on the Bungie Store.

As with all toasters, theDestinyToaster toasts bread, however, it toasts bread with theDestinyTricorn logo. Bringing bread andDestinytogether in a way that was once only a meme on the internet, theDestinyToaster can now be a meme in Guardian’s homes for the price of $84.99. TheDestinyToaster is available for pre-order with an expected ship date of June 10, 2025 through January 2022.
Guardians looking to add a slice ofDestinytoasted bread to their morning breakfast, or any meal or snack, can do so knowing that 10% of the profits will be donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.Guardians will also receive a Jotunn-themed sandwich holderand aDestiny 2in-game emblem, Burnt Edges, along with their purchase of aDestinyToaster.
Bungie has been a large part of the GCX charity event, this year having multiple emblems andDestiny-themed prizes for the GCX event. Donating 10% of the profits to St. Jude Children’s Hospital is just another way Bungie gives back. TheDestinyJotunn Toaster was created because of a GCX event supporting St. Jude, so it is fitting to see some profits go back to St. Jude.
Many people believe the price is too high considering the toaster is made by a company that has made many custom toasters that cost half the price. This is a valid point if people are just looking to buy a toaster, however, people should keep in mind that theDestinyToaster is less about buying a toaster and more about supporting an initiative that is helping children all around the world.
TheDestinyToaster, while a hilarious meme that’s come to life, is also a reminder of what gamers can do and how powerful they can be when they come together to support a common goal of raising a bunch of money for a well-deserving Charity. As Senior Community Manager, Dylan would say, “Time to get that bread.”
Destiny 2: Beyond Lightis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
