Summary
Bungie has revealed a first-of-its-kind Void Caster frame sword called Chivalric Fire, which will be available as a ritual weapon inDestiny 2Season 23. This was announced via Bungie’s weekly blog post, which also detailedDestiny 2Season 23’s PvP changes.
The ongoingDestiny 2Season of the Witch was all about finding a way to follow the Witness after the events of Lightfall. Bungie also confirmed the name ofDestiny 2Season 23 in an unconventional way, which will be titled “Season of the Wish.” This season will reportedly solve a 5-year-old mystery of the missing 15th wish from the Forsaken expansion, as Guardians now possess an Ahamkara egg. This could have major implications for the game’s story, considering Riven, the last Ahamkara, was slain by the Guardians in the Last Wish raid; however, there seems to be a twist in the tale. Now, Bungie has revealed a new weapon arriving next season for players to have in their arsenal.

Theweekly TWID post revealedthat Chivalric Fire will be the first Void Caster frame legendary sword. Currently, the only Legendary Caster frame swords available inDestiny 2are the Sola’s Scar, a Solar weapon, and Temptation’s Hook, which is an Arc weapon. Chivalric Fire will complete the trifecta of Light subclass Caster frame swords, and will also introduce a new perk called Attrition Orbs. Additionally, it can also roll with perks like Repulsor Brace and Destabilizing Rounds, which will make Void overshield builds more interesting. Similar to every other ritual weapon, Chivalric Fire will also have Vanguard, Crucible, and Gambit-specific ornaments. Aside from this, the post also talks about some important changes being made to the Crucible and reveals the new and returning weapons for Nightfall, Iron Banner, and Trials of Osiris.
The past week has been quite tumultuous forBungie considering it laid off around 100 developers. Reports revealed that this was due toDestiny 2’s revenue projections being down 45%, the team’s concerns regarding The Final Shape DLC’s quality, and a substantial drop in the game’s popularity after the Lightfall expansion. These reports also mentioned that The Final Shape could be delayed by almost 4 months, suggesting the possibility of a seven-month-long Season 23.

Despite this strenuous situation,Bungie has reassured the fans of their commitment toDestiny 2,and has promised to make The Final Shape an “unforgettable experience.” Given the current situation, Bungie likely wants to ensure that Season 23 acts as a turning point forDestiny 2.
