Destiny 2developer Bungie has disabled the Coin Flip exotic emote following the discovery of a game-breaking glitch. Although it only benefited players in certain circumstances, the Coin Flip emote could be used to trigger a type of “god mode” where players were invisible to enemies.
News of the God Mode glitch (sometimes referred to as Ghost Mode) started circulating around the Destiny 2 community last week. Players found that it could allow for easy solo flawless runs in some of the harderDestiny 2content, like thePit of Heresy dungeonand Grandmaster Nightfall Strikes.

It took a few days for Bungie to act, but theDestiny 2developer did disable the Coin Flip emote, which was the key to triggering the God Mode glitch. Any players that had the Coin Flip emote equipped will find that slot empty for the time being, and will need to equip a different emote.
To trigger the God Mode glitch, players needed to first find a load zone in any piece of content. Any area where a new location pops up on the bottom left of the screen works, regardless of where the player is.
Once standing in front of a load zone, the player must execute an exotic emote like the Table Flip. Before the animation completed, the player would then trigger the Coin Flip and then let that finish. Then walk slowly through the load zone. If done correctly, Ghost Mode should be active and any enemies in the new area should not acknowledge the player.
This was a very useful glitch for completing solo flawless runs, but it also had limitations. Players could not interact with items likeMotes in the Prophecy dungeon, for example, and they couldn’t activate control plates. And because the game didn’t technically register a player in the area, enemies could regenerate their health over time if not killed.
While the God Mode glitch was not completely game-breaking, it did offer players a significant advantage over a ton of content.Destiny 2players were completing solo Pit of Heresy andShattered Throne dungeon runswith minimal effort. As long as there is a loading zone before the first main encounter of the activity, then players could trigger the glitch.
The glitch also superseded the recently discoveredcheese for the Festering Core Grandmaster Nightfall, which offered a similar bonus but required a Contact public event to trigger. Players would pick up an item from Contact and then they would be invisible to every enemy within the strike.
As is typically the case with Destiny 2 seasons, the longer they go on, the more glitches and exploits that players find. So because Season of Arrivals has been extended an extra two months to allow forBeyond Light to launch in Novemberinstead of September, it’s practically a given that the community will find more and more ways to break the game.
