Completing a full run of Onslaught mode inDestiny 2can be much harder than one would expect, especially if they come into the activity undergeared or under-prepared for what’s about to come. Enemies will come in full-force here, pushing the limits of builds while compelling players to adapt to every possible scenario.
Titans offer a lot to the table when it comes to defending objectives. Despitenerfs to many ofDestiny 2’ssubclassesTitans are still capable of repelling even the most vicous of attacks with their solid defenses and terrifying offensive capabilities. The following guide covers two builds for the Titan class that are tailored to beat back the unending hordes of Onslaught mode while keeping things fun and engaging.
Recommended Armor Mods
The Berserker subclass for Titans can do some serious work in Onslaught. Not only is it capable of doing extreme melee damage, but it can also provide some much-needed crowd control for when the beefier enemies arrive at Wave 30+. Despite the nerf to Woven Mail and other Destiny 2 subclass abilities, Strand Titans can still stand strong in the face of overwhelming odds — assuming they have the right build equipped.
The setup above is a slight alteration of the usualStrand Titan build forDestiny 2. This one focuses more on spamming Barricade to take advantage ofDrengr’s Lashempowered byAbeyant Leap. Every time you cast Barricade, you’ll end up suspending whole groups of enemies, including those that are hard to kill, like Champions or yellow-bar Saboteurs. The Fragments and Armor Mods will help you regain melee and class ability energy more quickly, allowing you to keep casting Barricade and Frenzied Blade.
Any gun will work here, though aStrand Auto Riflemay be the best choice of primary weapon. For the heavy slot, we highly recommend bringing a Rocket Launcher with Bait and Switch so you can quickly get rid of suspended targets.
This is a hybrid buildwith excellent add-clear potentialthat makes frequent use of both your grenade and melee ability. Thanks to Spark of Shock, Spark of Ions, and Touch of Thunder, you’ll be swimming in Ionic Traces that feed back into the rest of your abilities, letting you use Thunderclap with greater frequency than normal. Since this build usesPoint Contact Cannon Brace, expect each mega punch to delete entire swarms of lesser enemies while dealing significant damage to anything with tons of health.
If you’re playing the10-wave version ofDestiny 2’sOnslaught mode, then you may have a better time usingInsurmountable Skullfortinstead. Most enemies are weak enough to get killed by a single Thunderclap hit, giving you practically unlimited melee energy as long as you may land a final blow with your melee ability.
Coldheartis a great weapon for this build as it doubles down on your Ionic Trace generation. As long as you’re able to keep your ability energy levels up, you’ll be able to breeze through all 50 waves of an advanced Onslaught run relatively effortlessly.
