Cyberpunk 2077developer CD Projekt Red set out to make the game its most ambitious project ever, even bigger thanThe Witcher 3and its related DLCs. Of course, such an undertaking costs quite a bit of money, so along with being the most ambitious title CD Projekt Red has ever developed,Cyberpunk 2077is also the most expensive. By June of this year alone, it had a total estimated cost that exceeded over $120 million. The following delays it suffered likely only added to this deficit.

Luckily for CD Projekt Red, it ambition generated a lot ofhype aroundCyberpunk 2077. So much so, that the studio has already recovered all of the money it put into developing and marketing the game. Not only that, but it’s also already generated a profit from it. In other words, it literally only took a day for CD Projekt Red to start making money off of a game that it took roughly eight years to create, and it delayed several times.

The information comes from Projekt Red’s 65/2020 financial report, which the studio released recently on its site. Niko Partners Senior Analyst Daniel Ahmad then tweeted the report for others to see. In no uncertain terms, the report claims thatCD Projekt Red generated a profit off ofCyberpunk 2077pre-orders alone. As to the number of copies sold through pre-orders, CD Projekt Red revealed the day before this report thatCyberpunk 2077sold over 8 million copies before it even launched.

Projekt Red released the 65/2020 report to influence the investment decisions of those reading it.Cyberpunk 2077delays and launch have both causedCD Projekt Red’s stock prices to plummet. There’s certainly an incentive for people to invest now, though, since the game is swimming in money, or at least, it likely will be by the end of this year. It’ll be interesting to see, if possible, just how much money it ends up making by the start of next year.

In the meantime, CD Projekt Red has promised that it’s working on fixingall of the bugsCyberpunk 2077currently has. Multiple players have reported running into one bug or another throughout their playthroughs, which, to be honest, was actually predictable. Pretty much every delayCyberpunksuffered was due to Projekt Red working on bug fixes. There’s no info on when the next patch will arrive to start cleaning up the game. Nonetheless, it’s confirmed to be on its way.

Cyberpunk 2077is on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions coming in 2021.
