Summary
OneCyberpunk 2077player has spent 200 hours playing Phantom Liberty before realizing that it’s possible to enter Dogtown on foot. Their discovery subsequently gained quite a bit of traction on social media, indicating that many other players were also unaware of thisCyberpunk 2077: Phantom Libertyfeatureup until recently.
Warning! Minor gameplay spoiler for the very beginning of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty ahead. While the ability to cross the Dogtown border on foot isn’t exactly a hidden feature, it’s also easy to miss out on this option while playing the game, at least initially. Namely, the Dogtown border crossing is firmly locked downat the beginning ofCyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, requiring players to access the DLC area by navigating through a linear section of the map featured in the Dog Eat Dog quest.

Given that introduction to the game’s first and only expansion, some players failed to realize that it’s later possible to navigate between Dogtown and the rest of Night City without fast traveling. That group also includes Reddit user Jazzlike-Fee-3493, who recently revealed that it took them 200 hours of playingCyberpunk 2077: Phantom Libertybefore they realized that they could simply walk into Dogtown from Pacifica, the southernmost district of Night City.
A brief video demonstration of the player’s discovery promptly amassed hundreds of upvotes, consequently emerging on the front page of the game’s largest subreddit on December 29. Based on that social media traction, it would appear that many fans were oblivious to this neat feature up until recently, much like Jazzlike-Fee-3493 was. Aside from walking over the border, it’s also possible to drive into Dogtown via the road to the immediate left of the path that Jazzlike-Fee-3493 took in their recently shared gameplay clip. But again, both of those routes are only unlocked after completing theDog Eat Dog gig inCyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty.

Driving Into Dogtown In Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty Requires a Civilian Vehicle
Driving into Dogtown also comes with one additional limitation, as doing so is only possible with a civilian vehicle. On the other hand, approaching the border in an NCPD car will see the player greeted with a non-friendly holographic message instead of an open gate. This little detail reflects the lawless nature of Dogtown, which had been abandoned by the Night City law enforcement many years prior to the events ofCyberpunk 2077.
While completing Dog Eat Dog won’t outright notify the player that the Dogtown’s border crossing has opened, the game does make one key attempt at communicating this feature. Namely, pursuingCyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty’s Vehicle Contractswill eventually lead V to drive over the district’s border, consequently making the player aware of the previously opened route.
