Cyberpunk 2077’sPhantom LibertyExpansion opened up a wide range of new features and areas. With Update 2.0 andCyberpunk 2077’s expansion, players are offered a brand-new story, improved AI, and fun challenges for players to get involved in.
One of these new challenges is Airdrops, a looting opportunityexclusive to the new Dogtown area. This area is also referred to as the ‘Combat Zone’ due to its high number of enemies and opposition. With a lot more enemies comes a lot more valuable loot. There are plenty of new jobs and gigs in the area, allowing players to earn more cash and collect some valuable items.
What Are Airdrops?
Airdrops are new additions toCyberpunk 2077brought by thePhantom LibertyExpansion. They are boxes that get delivered from the air, signaled by red smoke whenever they’re getting dropped down. These boxes contain some valuable loot, butgetting it won’t exactly be easy!
How To Find Airdrops
With the new expansion, players willgain access to Dogtownsoon after the introduction. Airdrops can happen anywhere in this area and will usually appear at random. They also occur frequently, meaning that players shouldn’t worry if they miss one.
Players can spot airdrops by looking for the plumes of red smoke as they fall from the sky. They won’t be marked on the map, so it’s important to keep a sharp eye out for them. Players who are close enough will also be able tohear the signature sound effects as they drop. The airdrops won’t be there forever, so players need to get to them quickly before they disappear.
It’s also vital to remember that there are plenty of others after the loot, so expect a fight. There are typically two types of opposition to expect when approaching the airdrops. There will either be guards posted around it or two opposing gangs already fighting over it. These shouldn’t be too difficult to get past. Luckily, the guards don’t alert nearby police when attacked, so there’s no need to worry about backup. Once the area is clear, players can then approach the crate and attempt to open it.
How To Open Airdrops
To open the airdrops, players will have to complete a Breach Protocol puzzle. For those who already have experience playingCyberpunk 2077, this should be a familiar challenge. Fornew players or those in need of a refresher, here’s a quick tutorial to solve the puzzles. Take a look at the image above. There are 3 key components to this puzzle:
These puzzles have a time limit but only start when the player clicks a code on the grid. This makes code-cracking easy as it can be solved before even starting the timer. The sequence contains the codes that need to be selected from the grid.The image states that E9, 1C, and E9 are needed. For the first move, the player must start by selecting a code from the top horizontal row.Every time the player makes a move, the selection alternates from horizontal rows to vertical rows. The picture shows that none of the codes we need are in the top row.
This is what the buffer is for. There are 4 empty squares, meaning the player can make 4 moves before the puzzle ends. Since only 3 codes need to be selected, there is a spare move.The first code needed is E9, so look for a column in the top row that has E9 in it vertically. In this grid, 4 rows contain E9. Then, check if each E9 has a 1C in its horizontal row. Now check if that 1C has another E9 in its vertical row. Here is one possible solution to this puzzle:
As shown above, the spare move was used to select BD, followed by the rest of the sequence in alternating rows. There is typically more than one way to solve these puzzles, but it’s usually easy if players work it out before starting the timer. Once the code is cracked, players can then access their precious loot.
