Earlier this week, Infinity Ward released a new update forCall of Duty: Warzoneas it does most Tuesdays. However, this latest update for the game proved to be fairly controversial, as it swapped the standard Trios mode with a different mode called Scopes and Scatter Guns.Call of Duty: Warzone’s Scopes and Scatter Guns mode still limited the team size to three players, but changed the rules so that players were only able to use shotguns and snipers.

While someCall of Duty: Warzoneplayers actually enjoyedScopes and Scatter Guns, otherwise were annoyed that they couldn’t get the standard battle royale experience in Trios anymore. Others still simply would like the option to choose between playing Scopes and Scatter Guns or standard Trios, with many fans upset that Infinity Ward added the LTM while simultaneously removing Trios.

In response to the backlash, Infinity Ward has released a new playlist update forCall of Duty: Warzonethat removes Scopes and Scatter Guns entirely. The regular Trios mode is back inCall of Duty: Warzone, alongside Solos and Quads. Unfortunately,WarzoneDuosis still nowhere to be found at the time of this writing.

This isn’t the first time that Infinity Ward has come under fire for removing a popular mode in the latestCall of Dutygame. Some may recall a similar situation last year when Infinity Ward removed Gunfight and replaced it with a Gunfight variant that wasn’t nearly as popular. There was also the time whenInfinity Ward removed the Shoot House 24/7 playlistand replaced it with the Crash 24/7 playlist - a decision that was met with so much outcry that Infinity Ward reversed its decision almost immediately.

It’s unclear why Infinity Ward keeps removing popular modes when trying LTMs. Other games, likeFortnite, don’t do that, and withWarzonehaving cross-playbetween PC, PS4, and Xbox One, it’s not like it would be hurting for people to fill up matches if it introduced another mode or two to the game.

In future, it will be interesting to see ifInfinity Wardchanges up the way it does LTMs inCall of Duty: Warzone. For now, though, fans shouldn’t get too attached to any new modes that are introduced to the battle royale.

Call of Duty: Warzoneis out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
