Developer Raven Software has disabled the Revive Pistol inCall of Duty: Warzone 2. As an ever-evolving game with updates that can potentially interfere with preexisting elements in unexpected ways,Warzone 2’s continuous development does come at the risk of needing things temporarily disabled to iron out issues, even if its player response will be out of frustration.A bold addition to the battle royale, the Revive Pistol is a field upgradethat can potentially shift the dynamic in a battle when utilized properly, offering a fast method to bring downed players back when at a distance. It can also act as a quicker way to get oneself back into combat when other self-revival methods would be too slow. Due to its usefulness, it is one of the rarer items to loot in the game, but once found could be the determining factor for winning a match.RELATED:Warzone 2 Players Want Combat Record Added to the GameTaking to Twitter,Warzone 2developer Raven Software released an announcement stating that the Revive Pistol has been disabled while it investigates an issue. The issue and its severity are unspecified, as is its link to the Revive Pistol, meaning the only thing confirmed so far is that the field upgrade will not be in the game for an undetermined amount of time, leaving players to only have previous revival methods available to use.
Responses have been mixed, with some players dismayed at the change and others requesting other alterations to the game. One commenter joked for Raven Software to be careful as their player count was showing, potentially referencingWarzone 2’s drop in engagement with many. Another response included a clip of a player who was able to spawn in many Revive Pistols, meaning the issue could be an exploit that was found, giving an unfair advantage to those taking advantage of it.
Since duplicating items is an exploit that was supposed tohave been patched out ofWarzone 2, it is a reasonable assumption that a holdover from the exploit remained with the Revive Pistol. If that is the case, then there is a possibility the issue could be resolved quickly, and the tool might soon be returned to the game’s rotation.
Whatever the issue is, the announcement is sure not to please anyone already upset with the status ofWarzone 2. Players have already expressed frustration overthe upcoming reset for DMZ Mode, and the temporary removal of an item that adds additional depth to the gameplay will do anything but quell that.
Call of Duty: Warzone 2is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
