Sledgehammer Games releasedCall of Duty: Vanguardat the beginning of November, which serves as the 18th installment in this long-running series. While the developer has been assisting Infinity Ward and Treyarch in recentreleases in theCall of Dutyfranchise, this will be the first major game released by Sledgehammer sinceWW2in 2017.

While the critical reception ofCall of Duty: WW2wasn’t that much different fromVanguard, some fans were excited to see the series go back to the Second World War.WW2also launched with a new game mode called War Mode, where 2 teams of 6 players played the role of either the Allied or Axis forces. It was an objective-based game mode that featured battles inspired byiconic moments from the Second World War. While War Mode hasn’t been a part of anyCall of Dutygame since, it seems like some fans want it to return inVanguardin some form.

A poster on theCall of Duty: VanguardsubReddit mentions that War Mode was a fantastic addition toWW2, and they are desperate for it to come back. The comment section is filed with people echoing this statement, with one saying that War was the only good thing aboutCall of Duty: WW2. According to a comment, the implementation of War Mode took a lot of effort, which may be the reason why it hasn’t been featured in anyCall of Dutygame since then. Some other fans want the development team to even drop the Zombies game mode in favor of new and fresh ideas.

It seems like War Mode isn’t the only thing fans want to see re-introduced, as they also wantmap voting to be added toVanguard. Being able to vote on the next map was a feature ofCall of Dutymultiplayer for many years, but it was surprisingly absent from 2019’sModern Warfare. However, last year’sBlack Ops Cold Warsaw a return of map voting, and now the feature is again absent fromVanguard. As expected, fans are extremely confused by this oscillating chain of events.
