DespiteCall of Duty: Vanguardhaving been available for a few months now, many players are only part way through the grind to Atomic. As such, someCall of Duty: Vanguardfans are calling out the latest camo grind as overly long and unenjoyable.

This is not the first time thatCall of Duty: Vanguard’s camo challenges have been criticized. Shortly after the game launched, the community recognized the absurd challenge that tasked players with getting 100 point-blank kills with Sniper Rifles. With players needing to be extremely close to get a point-blank medal to register, this objective seemed unfair, and it became more troublesome considering that players had to do it with every Sniper Rifle. However, this is not the only challenge deemed annoying by the community.

Reddit user andCall of Duty: Vanguardplayer Acryn- has pointed out several frustrating challenges, claiming that they are “ridiculous” and “killed grinding for camos.” With 577 upvotes and hundreds of comments pointing out other issues with the camo unlock process, it is clear that the community agrees with the need for change. The Redditor believes the original approach worked perfectly fine, with the new lineup of camo challenges hurting theCall of Dutyexperience.

In particular, theCall of Duty: Vanguardplayeris annoyed about the 100 longshot and 100 crouch kill challenges, as they essentially push players to sit at the back of the map and avoid playing the game normally. Not only is this boring for players working on challenges, but it sees players that are not grinding for camos having less fun since it changes the way that others are playing. They also point out that the requirement for 30 bloodthirsties, or 30 five killstreaks, is too unfair for less skilled players. In the comments, IM_Alzaea takes issue with the challenges that require players to use certain attachments.

Another commenter, bharding81, agrees that the challenges requiring specificCall of Duty: Vanguardloadoutsare bad additions. They also point out that the game’s slow leveling is part of the issue, as challenges cannot be worked on until they are unlocked. With some unlocking at high levels, this is a major downside. Redditor Tylus0 adds that, while they got every weapon gold in all the previousCall of Dutygames, they will not bother doing so withCall of Duty: Vanguarddue to all the problems with the challenges and the slow weapon leveling.

With so many players saying that the grind is not fun, hopefully Sledgehammer Games hears the criticism and makes adjustments to the challenges. WithCall of Duty: Vanguard’s camo coveragebeing so good, it is a shame that the process of getting the well-designed weapon skins is so tedious.

Call of Duty: Vanguardis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
