Nicholas “NICKMERCS” Kolcheff is now a co-owner of one of the biggest content creating and competitive clans in gaming; FaZe Clan. The news seemed to initially break a couple of days ago, but NICKMERCS just made it official on his Twitter page.
The recruitment of NICKMERCS to join the FaZe Clan back in 2019 was a massive get for the group when he surprisingly left 100 Thieves.CouRageJD and Valkyrae have joined the ownership group of 100 Thievessince then, and now NICKMERCS has followed suit with FaZe Clan.

NICKMERCS’s announcement of being a co-owner may or may not end up shaking up the industry in a big way, but it is certainly exciting. And for NICKMERCS himself, the deal ended up being worthwhile. According to his tweet, he received the equity he was promised, so it must have been something he was negotiating.
Kolcheff is often considered an important voice in theCall of Dutyrealm.NICKMERCS has voiced his concerns about Season 3 ofCall of Duty: Warzone, for example. That likely will not change with his co-ownership of FaZe. Whether it be announcing the next overpowered weapon or discussing what should come next withCall of Duty,NICKMERCS’s opinion usually holds weight. What will be interesting is seeing if and when he moves to a new game at some point. That would come ifCall of Duty: Warzonestarts to slow in popularity and another game takes over, as he was once an avidFortniteplayer, for example.
As far as FaZe, the group is big on the competitive scene, as recentlyAtlanta FaZe won aCall of DutyLeague 2021 Major. And whether it be solo competitions or team play, FaZe has had a big impact on the esports scene for a long time.
Of course, even outside of competition, FaZe has a huge impact on simply the content creating space; Kolcheff often resides in both. AlthoughNICKMERCS has decided to take a step away fromCall of Duty: Warzonetournaments, for now, he is still very active with his streaming, and that is where his audience is. As part owner of FaZe, he will likely care deeply about the ongoing success and evolution of the clan moving forward–both competitively and in the content creating space.
