Several fans of olderCall of Dutytitles have decided to speak up about wanting a classic weapon attachment to be brought back to the modern games. Given the annualization ofCall of Duty, features and weapons shift with each release, and sometimes it can be difficult to gauge what will make a return in the next installment no matter how fondly it had been received.
With the numerous eras in the franchise’s history, many moments inCall of Dutyare fondly remembered, be they scenes that become memes, well-crafted setpieces, or even bits of gameplay that encapsulate the power fantasy the games sell themselves as. That last part can happen either in the single-player campaign or in multiplayer, with the latter being especially notable for the wide variety of weapons and attachments on offer that can be described as overpowered.

One such attachment is the Tactical Knife, which Reddit user chicken-master200 created a post about, voicing their desire for it to make its return to the series. Its function is simple, acting as an attachment for pistols that changes how the player character holds their gun and allows for quicker melee attacks, often resulting in quick kills. Unfortunately, the Tactical Knife seems to have been forgotten by the developers working onCall of Dutytitles even if other fondly remembered parts of franchise history likeGun Game have made their return.
So far, the post has achieved roughly 1,800 upvotes with many users chiming in with what they think about the Tactical Knife. These responses have been varied, ranging from people who agree that it should return to others who argue thatCall of Duty’s throwing kniveshave been a serviceable alternative, and even more who have thought of ways to combine elements from the Tactical Knife with throwing knives. Several nostalgic users reminisce about the memories they have about how much they had enjoyed using the attachment when it did appear in the games.
Considering there might not be a mainlineCall of Dutythis year,a remaster ofModern Warfare 3was proposed to take its place by some, and the concept does have the potential to bring back weapons and attachments such as the Tactical Knife. Given the other two games in the original trilogy have been released on modern platforms, withModern Warfare 2only having the campaign, remasteringCall of DutyModern Warfare 3with multiplayer would likely mean the Tactical Knife’s return and be a perfect testing ground to see if the modern players take a liking to it.
