Last week,Activision announcedCall of Duty: Modern WarfareandWarzoneSeason 5will release August 5, bringing with it changes like a newWarzonefaction called the Shadow Company.
Before Season 5 releases, the officialCall of DutyYouTube account put out an “anthem” trailer to mark the end of Season 4, stringing together a minute-long montage of game clips interspersed with reaction videos and memes set to “Address It” by rapper LPB Poody. Some of the footage focuses on elements that have been added over the last few months, such as thePlunder Pack vehicle skins inWarzone.

However, the main focus is on tricks and unique kills, such as driving a truck rigged with explosives into another player or knocking out a helicopter with a rocket launcher in mid-air. This is meant to show that players “upped your game” in Season 4, according to the video description, but the ending reiteratesCall of Duty: Modern WarfareSeason 5’s release date with a promise that, “We’re not done yet.”
Among the new additions coming in Season 5 could be a returning fan-favorite weapon from the originalCall of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. ASeason 5 leak suggests the classic R700 bolt-action sniper riflewill be put into Infinity Ward’s modern-day first-person shooter, but likely later on in the season.
As exciting as it is for most people to have new multiplayer maps to play on and new operators to utilize when new seasons of content begin, added weapons and the loadouts they facilitate are a big part of what helps the game continue to feel fresh. Though the Season 4 anthem trailer is focused on what players can achieve inCall of Duty, some fans in the comments feel it missed out on a big facet of recent weeks: Rampant,“out of control” cheaters and hackers reported inWarzone. The developers are currently trying to stamp out this issue, so players will have to wait and see whether it gets better in Season 5.
