Ever sinceCall of Duty 4: Modern Warfarehit the scene, Prestige Mode has been a staple of the popular first-person shooter franchise. For the uninitiated, Prestige Mode allows players to trade in everything they unlocked in the online multiplayer component to start back at square 1, but with an emblem to mark their progress as well as another bonus, usually a new slot for create-a-class. However,2019’sCall of Duty: Modern Warfaredid away with Prestige Mode, and it looks like that will continue withCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

According to frequentCall of Dutyfranchise leaker ModernWarzone,Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warwill likely not have Prestige Mode. It seems that the game will most likely use the 2019’sModern Warfaremultiplayer progression, where players are able to level up to a certain point in any given season. We know thatBlack Ops Cold Warwill have a Battle Pass, so this seasonal approach to progression does indeed seem to be the most likely scenario. This would be the firstBlack Opsgame in history to not have Prestige mode, so it’s a big change for the sub-series.
