Speaking to GamesRadar+, Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford confirmed that “we’re working on many things, and that we’re working on big things.” He also affirmed his confidence in Gearbox Software’s upcoming title, claiming “I’m confident that our fans are going to be very, very happy with the next video game project when we are ready to announce it. And I will tell you that we’re not going to be making people wait for a long time before we announce it.” While it doesn’t seem the title will be on the2024 video game release calendar, it does appear that an announcement of the game isn’t too far away.

Interestingly, Pitchford didn’t confirm whether Gearbox Software’s next game is actuallyanotherBorderlandsgame. However, the studio has been immersed in that world for a long time now, and given its ongoing success, it seems extremely likely at this point, barring a huge change in direction. He did give note to the popularity ofTiny Tina’s Wonderland, claiming its success is “something we can build on.” Pitchford also mentioned that “it’s reasonable for our fans to expect more there,” so it seems the fantasy-themedBorderlandsspin-off has made a splash at Gearbox Software.

While no newBorderlandsgame has been announced yet, it’s still a great time to be a fan of the franchise. The long-awaitedBorderlandsmovie is finally set to release in August, marking the franchise’s biggest-ever move to a new medium. If it’s successful, it could result in a bunch of newBorderlandstitles going forward, although that will likely rely on the overall quality of the movie. As a promotion for the film,Borderlands 3recently gave away free in-game cosmetics, allowing players to dress up using items inspired by the movie.
