Unfortunate news today forBloodbornefans who might have hoped to see a new title under the IP to come to thePS5 at launch. According to a report from a leaker over on ResetEra, FromSoftware does currently have multiple games in the works at the moment, but none of them are a sequel, or spin-off, or in any way related toBloodborne.

Having released as a PS4 exclusive, many fans have been wondering ifBloodborne 2would be a PS5 exclusive, either at launch of the system, or within the first couple years of its release. However, withElden Ringbeing the main company’s focus, and following up onstatements from FromSoftwarethat there is no plannedBloodbornesequel, it seems that those hopes have been quickly dashed.

According to the leaker, who goes by the name Omnipotent,Bloodborne 2is neither in development now, nor is it in line to be developed once current projects are completed. Fans of the series may not be too surprised to hear this, as the same news reported directly from FromSoftware’s President Hidetaka Miyazaki when fans thought that aDeracineEaster Eggwas a nod from the company of what’s to come. Additionally, the development studio has famously always tried to move forward with something new, which is what createdBloodbornein the first place as Miyazaki had attempted to move on fromDark Souls.

From works on multiple projects all the time. As of right now, the game isn’t in development or in line to be in development. So in the event that aBloodbornesequel does happen, it’s not happening any time soon.

It should be stated that this most recent statement comes from a leak, and isn’t an official statement by the company. That being said, when considering FromSoftware’s past remarks onBloodborne 2, this reporting is not far off from what fans have heard before about the possibility of a sequel. While it is possible that after theNorse-inspiredElden Ringis finished that a Lovecraft-inspiredBloodbornesequel could be one of the next projects for the developers to consider, there doesn’t seem to be a drive within the company to revisit the game.

TheBloodbornecommunity has been fairly vocal over the years about the desire to see the series continue with new ideas andsome features that had to be cut, much in the way thatDark Soulseventually grew into a full trilogy. However, all the fans of the game can hope for now is that FromSoftware sees the demand for a new title within the IP and eventually decides to pursue that. This is what eventually createdDark Souls 2after all, and then eventually the fullDark Soulstrilogy that fans have today, so there may still be hope for a sequel, just not in the near future.
