Summary

Starfield’s SteamDB page has recently been updated, indicating that its Shattered Space DLC may be closer than many expect. Bethesda’s most recent RPG,Starfieldtakes players on a journey across hundreds of planets and moons, with several large cities and faction questlines to explore. Perhaps one of the game’s most popular features is the shipbuilding system, which allows players to create their own unique ship builds to take out into space. TheStarfieldcommunity has used shipbuilding to flex its creativity with an amalgamation of impressive, ridiculous, and hilarious ships.

For a major Bethesda title,Starfield’s wider reception was a bit mild at release. While it had significantly fewer bugs than Bethesda launches of the past, some felt the use of loading screens and fast traveling to be a bit overbearing. Despite pulling in six million players in its first few weeks,Starfield’s player count has been steadily droppingover the seven months it’s been out. This may make sense as a single player RPG. However, Bethesda’s games are notorious for having playerbases that stick around for years.

Many waning players have been holding out forStarfield’s Shattered Space DLCto dive back in, and it seems like it may be closer than initially anticipated.Insider Gaming pointed toStarfield’s SteamDB page, which had been updated last week. Now in its DLC tab, an “Unknown App” has been added next toStarfield’s pre-order and digital premium upgrade editions. This addition makes it clear that Bethesda may be preparing to add something new toStarfield;whether it’s the Shattered Space DLC or something else entirely is still unknown.

Fallout 4’s DLCs were all released in the year following its November 2015 launch, with the earliest Automaton DLC having dropped in February 2016. With that in mind, it wouldn’t be impossible for Bethesda to have Shattered Space ready to go sometime in the coming months, perhaps even beforeXbox’s confirmed June showcase. As it stands, there aren’t many major AAA releases set to drop in April and May; it would be the perfect time forStarfieldto come out with its DLC, pulling players back in and potentially winning over new fans.

What Could Shattered Space Add To Starfield?

Exactly what Shattered Space will entail is still a mystery. It’s hard to imagine any new planets being added, as there are already over 1,000 of them to explore in the base game. Perhaps a new city and faction questline could be introduced.House Va’ruun is one ofStarfield’s major factionsthat players weren’t able to explore in the base game. Maybe Shattered Space will give players the opportunity to join Va’ruun and visit its home planet, which resides somewhere in an unknown star system. Of course, all of this is just speculation at this time.

Starfieldis set to gain official mod support sometime this year; perhaps it’ll coincide with the launch of its Shattered Space DLC, though nothing has been confirmed thus far.
