If players thought Lightning has a lot of garbs inLightning Returns: Final Fantasy 13, then they’ll be surprised to find out she has a lot of weapons available to her in the game. From long swords to greatswords, staves, dual-blades, spears, rapiers, players will have a lot of fun customizing Lightning to their combat styles.

Finding most of these weapons can take some time and require a lot of patience. Some can be found from enemy drops, while others cost a pretty penny. Then are a few that are only available in Hard Mode, but longtimeFinal Fantasyfans know that great rewards can come out of it. Here are some weapons players should keep their eyes open for, along with saving up gil.
10Morgan Le Fey
The rapiers inLightning Returnsaren’t the strongest weapons, but they can come in handy if players are looking to builda Saboteur-esque role.The Morgan le Fey rapier is arguably the best and strongest one. It greatly increases the power of status ailments and gives them a longer duration. Plus, it increases spell damage and is pretty good for mages.
The downside is that it’s only available in Hard Mode and has a pretty hefty price tag at 420,000 gil. But if players are wanting Lightning to have a strong Saboteur-esque schemata, this weapon is a must-have.
9Philosopher’s Rod
The staves in the game are a bit of a double-edged sword because they can be very powerful but at the cost of lower ATB speed and a decrease in Stagger Power. If players don’t mind this, then the Philosopher’s Rod is thebest staff to have in the game.It has the highest Magic power of all other weapons, even the Ultima Weapon.
This staff is only available in Hard Mode and is quite expensive at 800,000 gil. It’s tied with the Heaven’s Cloud sword for being the most expensive in the game, but players will have a pretty powerful weapon if they can afford it.
8Stigma
Though not themost powerful long sword,the Stigma is a fan-favorite since it’s available in Normal Mode. It’s well-balanced in both strength and magic along with increasing ATB speed. It’s good to have until players are able to get Ultima Weapon (only available on the Final Day) or afford the Immortal Order (available in Hard Mode). It’s a little on the basic side, but players can always boost its power with the right accessories and other equipment to add to its versatility.

Though not as pricey as some other weapons, it does cost 360,000 gil. Players should save up gil to get this weapon when it becomes available on Day 10.
7Shard Blade
While it’s not themost powerful greatsword,it certainly comes close and is very popular among players. It increases both strength and magic and keeps evenly matched in power. What makes this weapon appealing is that it has the Auto-Regen auto-ability. It’s not as powerful as the Flesh Render, but it is good until players are able to get it.
It can take some time to get it since it has a small chance of dropping after defeating a Reaver. There’s the risk of getting it right before receiving the Flesh Render, but if players are fortunate enough to get it early, a great weapon is at their disposal.
6Bladed Lance
Considering that this is Fang’s weapon, it’s no surprise that this isthe most powerful spearin Normal Mode. Though it’s not as powerful as Ramuh’s Horn and Hades’ Fang, it’s well-balanced in stats and has the Jump ability like all other spears. What makes this spear pretty useful is that it has the Overclocking Manual auto-ability which will increase the duration of Overclock.
However, the Bladed Lance doesn’t have any increase to Stagger Power, which is found on most spears. Plus, if players do buy Ramuh’s Horn and/ Hades’ Fang, it just doesn’t match up to their raw power. It’s still the best spear to have until players can get those weapons and even if they do, it’s far from useless.
5Izanami
If players aren’t wanting to usea staff for their mage,this weapon is great to have. While it doesn’t come with any auto-abilities or special skills, it has pretty high magic power, though not as much as the Philosopher’s Rod. It comes pretty close though and if players don’t mind this, this sword is not bad. Plus, players won’t have to worry about slow ATB speed and the decrease in Stagger Power.
Like the Philosopher’s Rod, it’s only available in Hard Mode. However, it does have a lower price tag of 680,000 gil versus the Philosopher’s Rod price of 800,000. Players could buy this sword until they’re able to afford the staff or have equipment that could increase this sword’s power.
4Double Deity
Dual-blades do get mixed reception because they have low strength, but they can be just as powerful as other weapons because Lightning attacks twice in one attack. The Double Deity is arguably the best dual-blade in the game. Aside from looking cool, it has the Overclocking Manual auto-ability, which increases the Overclock duration.

However, getting this weapon can be very challenging and the only time players can get it is after the fight with Bhunivelze. It has a low drop rate so if playersare wanting this weapon,it’s best to save the game before fighting him.
3Heaven’s Cloud
This sword not only looks deadly, but it’s the strongestsword in the game.If players are wanting to build a powerful physical attacker, this sword is a must-have. Its strength is the highest of any other weapon and it has the Hard Hitter Lv. 2 auto-ability. This will greatly increase the chance of making enemies recoil when Lightning is attacking them.
Though very powerful, this weapon does lower ATB speed and is only available in Hard Mode. Plus, it has a hefty price tag of 800,000 gil.
2Chaos Revenge
Caius Ballad’s weapon is available after defeating him and is a pretty great weapon to have. When looking at it, it’s not the strongest weapon and has the Quick Stagger auto-ability. This will let Lightning Stagger enemies a lot faster, which means she’lldo a lot more damage.Players should verify to pick this up after defeating Caius and put it to use as soon as possible.
It gives an equal boost to both strength and magic and is one of the strongest greatswords in Normal Mode. Even in Hard Mode, the Quick Stagger ability can still come in handy with the right equipment.
1Flesh Render
This greatsword has been a fan-favorite since the release ofLightning Returns.When its stats are seen, it’s pretty easy to understand whythis weapon is sought after,especially in Normal Mode. The Flesh Render increases both strength and magic for Lightning and is the strongest greatsword in the game. It has the Auto-Regen ability which is very useful, especially later in the game.
With its strength and Auto-Regen ability, this weapon is a must-have for players. It’s not that hard to get, either. Players have to defeat the Reaver Omega enemy, which only appears after players defeat all Reavers. It does take some time and patience to accomplish this task, but it’s very rewarding.
