There are certain game modes that fans expect from first-person shooter games nowadays as standard for the genre. One of these modes is adedicated Ranked mode, where players who are interested in playing competitively can find more serious and intense multiplayer matches. Some big name FPS games have opted out of having dedicated Ranked modes as of late, though, andBattlefield 2042is now one of them.
YouTube channel Battlefield Nation recently interviewedBattlefield 2042senior design director Justin Wiebe aboutBattlefield 2042, who confirmed that the game won’t be launching with a dedicated Ranked mode. According to Wiebe, aBattlefield 2042Ranked mode is something that the developers want to hear more about from the community before it’s implemented. If it’s something that people really want to see, then the developers will consider it.

Wiebe is from Ripple Effect Studios, the team working onBattlefield 2042’s ambitious Portal game mode. TheBattlefield 2042Portal modeseems like it will be the new game’s most ambitious feature, and could potentially be a game-changer when it comes to its longevity compared toBattlefieldgames of years past. Whether or not its as solid in its execution as it is on paper remains to be seen, but it’s certainly piqued the interest of the community.
The lack of a Ranked mode inBattlefield 2042at launch is certain to cause some mixed reactions in the community, but the reaction online so far seems to be mostly positive.
