Battlefield 2042is set to release in just about a month. The highly anticipated newBattlefieldgame was delayed until November 19, which pits the first-person shooter’s release right betweenCall of Duty: VanguardandHalo: Infinite. The added development time would theoretically allow DICE more time to polish the multiplayer shooter. However, fans have been sharing comical, and perhaps disappointing, images coming from theBattlefield 2042beta.
A glitch that is semi-reminiscent of the old"no face glitch" inAssassin’s Creed Unitylooks to have returned inBattlefield 2042. Players have been uploading images and videos of low-polygon models of their own and enemy soldiers that are quite amusing. The same problem happened for a time inCall of Duty: Warzone, but this one is already appearing during the beta phase ofBattlefield 2042.

The character model glitch inBattlefield 2042appears to vary by player and upload, but in general, models are not properly rendering. This is resulting in either extremely low polygon models, facial features being missing, and more. According to some players, it appears to be mainly an issue on older consoles such as the PS4. However, players are reporting problems on lower-end PCs as well, and there are a bevy of glitches, optimization issues, and general problems that have come out of theBattlefield 2042beta.
Recent leaks have pointed to atroubled development ofBattlefield 2042,something that could have led to the delay of the game, some of the gameplay changes that have been rumored, and many of the glitches that players are seeing. Some are laughing at the model glitches, because at a glance they are both disturbing and humorous. However, many of the commenters of the social media posts in which the images and videos are being posted are sharing levels of concern, as the game players were excited about now appears to be in worse shape than they had presumed.
The character model glitches, in general, are harmless enough that they don’t really affect the game to a large degree. The issue will also likely be fixed in due time. However, some fans of the series are concerned enough with what they played during the beta that they arehoping forBattlefield 2042to be delayed again. The hope is that the kinks will be fixed before the game launches. However, the fear is that there are enough problems, and enough design flaws, thatBattlefield 2042will launch a flawed game and be swallowed up by this year’sCall of Dutyand the brand newHalo Infinite. That would be unfortunate for a series that has been on hiatus for the past three years.
Battlefield 2042releases November 19 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
