Fans hope to see Jensen Ackles playBatmanin live-action, and this fan art shows why he has become a fan-favorite casting for the caped crusader.
James Gunn has been busy casting for his filmSuperman: Legacybut has yet to announce any casting news for the DCU’sBatmanfilm. The film is titledBatman: The Brave and the Boldand will be directed by Andy Muschietti, who recently helmedThe Flash. After announcing the cast for his Superman film, Gunn had some disappointing news for fans, sayingcasting for Batman won’t happen soon.

Using the help of AI and some extra editing,Zuuhl82showed what Ackles could look like as the DCU’s Batman. The suit on the left is similar to some of Ben Affleck’s suits, being a bit on the bulky side, although the AI seems to have made an odd Bat Symbol. Ackles is also given a batmobile in that image, but it is hard to see adequately. On the right, fans can see how Ackles looks with a mask, which seems heavily based on Christian Bale’s version.
Fans have been wanting Ackles to play a live-action Batman for years. After seeing him play Soldier Boy in Amazon’sThe Boys, fans hope all the pieces are in place for him to get the role. Additionally, Ackles has voiced Batman in the two-part animated filmBatman: The Long HalloweenandJustice League: Warworld. So there is no doubt that he can do the iconic Batman voice.
At a recent fan convention,Ackles responded to fans wanting him to play Batman. Ackles told the crowd, “Would I entertain the idea of playing my favorite superhero of all time?… I would love it. Sign me up.” However, he said that he has not had any talks with DC about it, and there won’t be any talks until at least the actors’ strike is resolved and possibly the writers’ strike if they still need a script.
One of the few things known about the film is that it willintroduce Batman to Damian Wayneas Robin, meaning Batman will be older. At 45, Ackles could be the perfect age for the role. It will still be a while before fans hear any news about casting forBatman: The Brave and the Bold, but they have high hopes that Ackles will land the role.
