One major draw for the game is the creativity it affords players, and fan creations continue to appear online even as the initial fervor has died down.
Twitter user Taylor Shae posted a series of images to social media Wednesday which depict a set ofAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsplayer outfits designed after the Warner siblings; Yakko, Wakko, and Dot; from the recently-revived cartoon seriesAnimaniacs. The variety show ran from 1993 to 1998, according to the Internet Movie Database (IMDb), primarily centered around the Warner siblings' sitcom antics and pop culture lampooning as they caused havoc around the Warner Bros. studio lot or in historical settings.

Hulu revivedAnimaniacswith its original voice castfor a new run of 13 episodes, debuting on the streaming service earlier this month, which appears to be the impetus for Shae’s take on the characters inAnimal Crossing. They rampage around an island alongside two other players to take pictures with some in-character personality sprinkled in, such as Wakko and Dot laughing at one of their sibling’s confidently-delivered lines.
While the costuming to recreate the Warner siblings is pretty spot-on, from the trio’s black-and-white bodies to their varied outfits, the use ofAnimal Crossingreactions helps elevate these images to something fitting their “zany” personalities. The final image depicts the three sitting together in front of a fall-themed Resident Services, which is a newreaction fromAnimal Crossing: New Horizons' winter update.
This latestAnimal Crossingreleased at a perfect time to have a big cultural impact. The ongoing coronavirus pandemic broke out early in 2020, leaving much of the world quarantining at home - with some countries still dealing with spiking cases as of this writing.Animal Crossing: New Horizons' focus on building communities during this time is one reason it has beennominated for Game of the Year at The Game Awards.
