Piranha Plant - Released on July 23, 2025

Piranha Plant was the first downloadable character forSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate,available for free to any fans who purchased the game before July 12, 2025. The character is from theSuper Marioseries, and is a heavyweight fighter that has some strong anti-air tools in its moveset. The character also enjoys a unique set of moves while controlling largely like an archetypal heavyweight, and was an interesting start to the game’s DLC offerings despite being regarded as one of theworst characters inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Joker - Released on July 20, 2025

Joker fromPersona 5was the first DLC character released in the first Fighters Pass, and has been verywell received among theSuper Smash Bros. Ultimatecommunity. Joker is a medium-weight character that is quick and agile for the class, while also enjoying a dynamic moves. He specializes in hitting combos on enemies before quickly getting out of range, and has particularly strong grabs. However, he does require players to adapt to their opponents' playstyles, so fans will want to know a lot about the game’s cast of fighters before trying to learn Joker.

Hero - Released on June 07, 2025

Hero encapsulates a number of different protagonists from theDragon Questseries, although they are all referenced as Hero. Hero is the first swordfighter DLC character added toSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate,and it introduced a unique Magic Points system that sees him able to perform a range of special attacks. The character also has a unique ability in that all of his special moves have a 1/8 chance of being a critical hit, which doubles its damage and increases the move’s knockback. At the time of release, the character was very popular, so much so that he was eventuallybanned from someSuper Smash Bros. Ultimatetournaments.

Banjo-Kazooie - Released on Jul 18, 2025

Banjo-Kazooie is a tag-team fighter similar to Duck Hunt. They are considered a heavyweight all-rounder, as while the fighter’s moves and physics aren’t anything special, it also doesn’t have any particular weaknesses that other players can exploit. This makes playing the character largely about winning neutral fights as well as punishing the enemy fighter when possible. Banjo-Kazooie does also have some of the coolereaster eggs inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Terry - Released on July 30, 2025

Terry from theKing of Fightersseries is another heavyweight fighter that focuses on melee and footsie play. He has strong damage numbers that give him solid KO options, as well as good combo potential. Terry also has strong punishers and only gets stronger as he reaches a high percentage thanks tohis Super Special Moves inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate. However, his limited survivability options make getting knocked off stage particularly dangerous.

Byleth - Released on July 02, 2025

Byleth is available in both male and female form, and is another swordfighter from theFire Emblemseries - though many fans still point out thatonly the male form of Byleth received an amiibo. However, Byleth does stand out from their fellowFire Emblemcharacters by being a ranged powerhouse with some very potent combos. Byleth is also rather slow for their weight class and has poor frame data, which can make playing them require a lot of care given any misstep leaves Byleth open to punishment.

Min Min - Released on June 17, 2025

Min Min kicked off the second Fighters Pass, brought toSuper Smash Bros. UltimatefromARMS. She boasts a unique style that utilizes the great range of her strikes, as well as being able to switch her attacks up via different arms. This makes Min Min a very aggressive fighter that can put pressure on her opponents with solid zoning. However, it also gives Min Min a difficult learning curve that makes sense given she is avery unique fighter inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Steve - Released on June 12, 2025.

Minecraft’s Steve was added toSuper Smash Bros. Ultimatealong with alternate appearances for Alex, a Zombie, and an Enderman. Steve has an incredibly unique kit with some capabilities that aren’t present anywhere else in the roster. This gives the character a steep learning curve, but Steve has great close-quarters abilities as well as solid stage control and edge guarding to compensate. Steve is a solid addition to the game, and has led to many fans hoping for moreMicrosoft characters to show up inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Sephiroth - Released on July 29, 2025

Final Fantasy 7’s Sephiroth was added toSuper Smash Bros. Ultimatelate last year and is one of the most unique swordfighters in the game. He has great range, high damage numbers, and solid projectiles that can make it very difficult for opponents to even approach him. However, he is vulnerable to opponents that apply a lot of pressure and can be found lacking if enemies get too close. His damage is undeniably impressive though, with Sephiroth being able to deal59,000 percent damage with a single hit inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Pyra/Mythra - Released on June 07, 2025

Pyra and Mythra are both from theXenoblade Chroniclesseries, and allow players to switch between them characters at any point during a match. Both characters utilize a sword, but they have entirely different move sets, strengths, and weaknesses. The dual nature of the characters makes the pair a very versatile combo, but can make them very difficult to learn - and make mistakes while playing. However, bothPyra and Mythra are capable fighters inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimateonce players have taken the time to learn.

Kazuya Mishima - Released on July 17, 2025

Kazuya is the most recent DLC fighter forSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate,hailing from the iconicTekkenseries. His character focuses on baiting enemy moves before punishing them thanks to devastating combos that differentiate him from his other fellow heavyweights. However, he is also susceptible to combos, so players have to pick their opportunities wisely. Either way, Kazuya has proven to be agreat new fighter inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate, and it will be interesting to see what the final addition has to offer.
