With Christmas right around the corner, onePokemonfan channeled the holiday spirit and hilariously designed the Moonlight Pokemon. A Reddit user named Bluvinity recreated the Christmas cat meme with Umbreon featured front and center, and posted their finished work on the r/pokemon subreddit. Though otherartists depictedPokemonin festive ways, the OP used Umbreon as a stand-in for the black cat depicted in the meme. The black cat in question was decorated like a Christmas tree, with the caption “You became the very thing you swore to destroy.” The meme itself is a reference to cats that pounce on shiny objects, including Christmas tree ornaments, with the juxtaposition of a cat becoming decorated like a Christmas tree serving as the meme’s punchline.
WhileUmbreon is usually depicted with a sleek and thin coat, the OP gave the Moonlight Pokemon extra ruffles across its coat for some added effect. Sitting with its tail curled, and its red eyes fixed on a Christmas tree-topper attached to its head, thePokemonartist adorned Umbreon’s neck, back, and chest with Christmas lights. Though the original meme had multicolored lights, only red and yellow lights were featured on Umbreon.
Though no comments were left on Bluvinity’s post at the time of writing, only time will tell what otherPokemonfans will say about their handiwork. AsPokemonfans continue to create awesome art of their teams, it remains to be seen what they will come up with going into 2024.
